For those of us watching the Lincoln Financial telecast this weekend, I am already preparing myself for Dave, Dave ... and Dave to beat into the ground the name Ben Jarvis Green-Ellis (has anyone ever noticed they say his ENTIRE name EVERY time they mention him??)

Anyway, I'd like to conduct a non-quasi-semi-scientific poll on how many times you expect to hear the name in its entirety on Saturday.

1) 25 Times (in the first quarter)

2) 25 Times (in the first half)

3) 60 Times (in the game)

4) 60 Times (the first time he actually touches the ball)

5) 171 Times (including the pre-game hype-up and total game frenzy)

For those of us preparing to watch the Lincoln Financial telecast on Saturday, we can and should prepare ourselves to hear the name Ben Jarvis Green-Ellis continually BEATEN into our heads by Dave, Dave and .... Dave (does any notice they must and do say his ENTIRE name on every reference??)

The real question is whether it will beat this week's gratuitous mentions of Cassen Jackson-Garrison.

Given that Lil' Sis will likely have around 70 total offensive plays we'll hear his name mentioned about 50 times, although he'll only get around 25 carries and 10 or 15 passes thrown to him out of the back field.

We have guys with three names, but BocaLance is right, I have always noticed that the anouncers say his entire names every time they mention him. He is different because it shoulds like he has four names. It would be like John Parker Wilson-Jackson. This is a hilarious poll.

I totally understand and dig that some guys have longer or hyphenated names. I've watched a few Lincoln Financial games (most recently UF vs Ole Miss) and it is just WEIRD how they MUST say his entire name almost every chance they get. My buddy and I started a count last time late in the first quarter and got up to 41 near end of game - which actually spurred this thread. :cool2:

It may be, in part, a MS thing. My wife is from Oxford, and a couple of years ago, we went back to her school reunion. When she was in HS, there was no Oxford city HS, just University High, which was run by Ole Miss and was very small, so they have whole school reunions, instead of class reunions. Anyway, one of her classmates, coincidentally, another "Ben," but he was always called by his first and middle names. To me it seemed like a waste of syllables. My wife looked at me as if I were loony and told me that it was to distinguish him from his dad, who was also "Ben." OK... Got to meet Ron Franklin at that reunion, whom my wife used to date. Really a great guy. Glad he wasn't available around the time my wife and I got married... :D

While it is annoying to hear the whole name, to me, it is almost as annoying to hear them try and split up the name.

Tired of hearing: "Parker Wilson", look forward to hearing that this weekend:)
