Best Defensive performance since 92 Sugar Bowl

I think that as good as this defense played yesterday they deserve not to be compared to the '92 defense or any OTHER defense.

I can remember not that many months ago when we were criticising Kareem Jackson. I think this guy has improved. When he took out with that interception it was the stuff that sends terror into opposing teams.

I don't know if I've seen a defense STIFLE an offense in so many different ways. It was as if every move Ole Miss tried to make, there was another hitch in their giddyup -- because of some deflating something done by a different Alabama defender.

This Rolando McClain has developed into an all-time linebacker. He is so far ahead in his thinking of what is going on that the opposing offense has to be wondering, "What is this guy going to pull next?" Rolando seems to have stepped it up a notch post-Hightower. And he is sort of like a Tim Tebow, always checking with his teammates on the field so as to develop the upcoming play.

When a defense becomes in effect an offense, you really begin to think, "Heck, why worry about any offense?" This is a stifling, OFFENSIVE defense at this point. This defense can strike fear into the opposition. It is a great defense. This is the kind of defense that win a national championship.

Kareem has great speed for about 60 yards, unfortunately he had about 20 more to go. Hell i'd have been out of gas after 15 yards. Never-the-less. HUUUGE play by Kareem. The kind that makes NFL scouts say "Oh yes".
Reamer could have enabled the TD, but he was leery of getting the BinB call...

.... and the other block that was attempted propelled the defender . Without that , he goes the distance :)

Yeah, I noticed that too. He was going full speed, then saw what his angle would be and ended up shoving the guy just north of his numbers. I was worried he'd get the flag anyway. But since it was Ole Miss, I guess we had the refs in our pocket so there was no call. Heh...

Note that the purpose of this thread was not to compare the 2009 defense with the 1992 defense. The purpose was simply to state that our defensive performance in the game Saturday was quite possibly the best single defensive performance I've seen by an Alabama defense since the 1992 Sugar Bowl game. I know you're not the only one that has kind of taken the thread out of context, but I thought I would clear it up.

In my opinion, we can't compare this defense to the 1992 defense as a whole until after the season is over.

They were making up for the BLATANT holding call (Deaderick's jersey was stretched to a new size) they never called on the previous pass play that got OM down there in the 1st place.

I may be by myself on this, but I think we are about even with the 92 team at that point in their season. We keep looking at 6 games VS. 12 games.
When the year is over we may be able to make the comparison. If our Defense continues we may be there. I think we would be there, but for the loss of Hightower. (We lost a very dominant player when he went down)
