Gerald Webber likes to play up his products and this time he might be close to right.

It's not a Crate G-60, that's for sure!

But that's what I'm stuck with at the moment. But even that thing is starting to short out on me (it's 20 years old and has been through hell). I've had a lot of good amps over the last 20+ years, and how this is the one I'm left with I'll never know!

Best amp I've ever played through is either a Mesa/Boogie Rect-o-verb, or the M/B Lone Star. I hope to get one of those sometime this year, although a very large vet bill may have put this off until next year. I also really like the Vox AC30, but the M/B's seem more versatile.

I've never heard of the Kendirck amp before, but if it's sound is in line with it's price, it should be a good one. There's another amp a co-worker boght and has told me about, but I forgot the name. Some guy in California builds them. I'll post a link when I get back to work tomorrow.

There are so many good amps out there now. A much different scene than my playing hey-days of the late '80's. I tend to shy away from the new "modeling" amps and a lot of the new guitar processors out there. I like to just plug straight into the amp. I always though if you have to go through a lot of effects, you have the wrong guitar/amp combo.

I have a Vox AC30 pending sale. If the sale falls through it will be back on the market soon. Also a blackface Fender Delux Reverb. Shoot me an email or PM if you are interested. I finance :D.

Gerald Webber, owner of Kendrick Amps, is a master at amp building and repair. Gerald was one of the early rock and roll staples in the SE Texas, SW Louisiana area back in the 60s. Billy Gibbons is another that plays through a Kendrick amp. How did he come up with that name? Gerald ran a meat packing business and build amps as a hobby. The hobby got too big and he talked to his wife about selling the business and starting an amplifier business. His wife's maiden name is Kendrick. That's that story.

Gerald has written books, made instructional tapes and DVDs, holds clinics and is easily accessible by phone.

It's the player that makes the sound but having great equipment doesn't hurt.
You may have seen a Kendrick, TopHat, Matchless etc. before but not known it.

The amp I was thinking of

is a Bogner. That's what a co-worker of mine bought, and he swears by them. I haven't heard it yet. They're quite pricey too!. The link is Bogner. I'll think about the AC30.

Played once a Gibson Les Paul through a vintage/ old and dusty Marshall half stack that was parallel wired also to a Leslie cabinet. Was the closest thing to perfect I've heard.....balance between warm powerful yet clean tones with slight effects from the rotating speaker in the Leslie. It was in the RCA Studio in Nashville that they turned into a recording museum (studio 51 I think).... same day my mom played "How Great Thou Art" on their piano.....one Elvis and Ronnie Milsap had recorded at. ....went back years later and you couldn't touch anything there anymore...they were remodeling it to be used once again for small recording jobs as well as expanding the museum...... it's still cool to walk into the same room Marty Robbins recorded "El Paso" and Willie Nelson recorded "Blue Eyes Cryin In The Rain" in.

Same day played one of Buck Owen's blonde telecasters through an old blackface Fender amp that needed the pots cleaned bad, and a Martin acoustic "reportedly" once owned by Johnny Cash.....
