The 2 that stand out immediately are DT in 88 & Shaun vs LSU in 96.

But don't forget Cody in 2009, either. Rocky Block. How many times have you seen the same guy block 2 FGs in one quarter?

If we had won, Walter Lewis, 1983 Penn State.

The entire defense, 1992 USM (3 first downs).

Barker against Georgia 94, Siran in 89.

One that I think of first is Shaun 96. I'll go with that.

I still say Kerry Goode in 1984 vs. a Doug Flutie led Boston College is still impressive (297 all purpose yards including a 99 yd KO return TD) considering the fact he went out early in the 3rd quarter with a torn ACL. Injuries are part of the game but we can only wonder what kind of #'s he would've put up in that game. His dominance is evident due to the fact we were up 31-14 when he got hurt and ended up losing 38-31.
That is #1 to me and Shuan vs LSU a close #2. Both came in pretty much one half of a ball game. I hope I'm still around to see either of those topped.

Man, there are so many...

LeeRoy Jordan in the 1963 Orange Bowl as so many have already mentioned. Hard to argue with most of the others already mentioned too, Musso, Alexander, et al. But here are a few more out of many:

Bobby Marlow against Auburn in 1950 - three touchdowns in a low scoring era.

Bobby Marlowe against Auburn in 1951 - three touchdown and 233 yards in an era where 100 yards made sports headlines. This was the year that two pretty fair coaches, Bobby Dodd and Shug Jordan both stated that Marlow was the best running back they'd ever seen.

Best Team performance might have been Alabama vs. Syracuse in the 1953 Orange Bowl. Syracuse was boomed up as "the beast of the east" by the east coast sports writers. Alabama crumbled the Saltine Warriors (Syracuse's nickname back then) to the tune of 61 - 6. A freshman named Bart Starr had an excellent game punting and, in the second half, at QB.

I could go on for hours, but it's late, the bourbon is running low, and ol' guys like me have to get some shuteye. I've still got to earn a living....

How soon we forget. Demeco Ryans and his 25 tackles vs Arkansas in 2003. Dude was a worker. But I agree with others. Wonder if Shauns 291 yard performance vs LSU in 96' will ever be passed?

The game that stands out for me: Bobby Humphrey against TN. 1980's I think... I don't recall the year. Student body left; student body right; Humphrey knocking off ten yards at a clip. He was unstoppable that day. I watched the game with several TN fans. Their exasperation was priceless; which contributed to his performance being etched in my memory.

When I first saw this thread this was the very first name that popped in my mind, because it was truly amazing watching what he accomplished in about three quarters of play in that game.

I really wish someone would post some highlights of Kerry Goode in this game on youtube. I've heard for years and years how incredible he was before his knee injury, but unfortunately I was too young at the time to remember the game, and have never been able to find any highlights. I guess the highlights are harder to come by since we lost the game.

I don't necessarily think it's at the very top...but Rashad Johnson's game against LSU in 2008 was quite amazing. He had 3 INTs...one of them was a pick-6 and the other one was in OT which helped us win the game.

Ingram's game against USCe in 2009 was what put him in position to win the Heisman...so it has to be one of the best in school history.

Alexander against LSU in 2006 was almost like a video game. I saw a lot of the same drive and tenacity in Richardson this past season. Too bad he had to share touches with Ingram.

Didn't we win that game with 56 points on the board? 56 to 28 or something like that?

Surely you didnt take that as a serious statement.
I didn't take it seriously either, but I guess it was just one of those comments that was like "wow, did he really just say that?"

I wasn't offended or anything, I guess it's just not everyday you see someone talking about a presidential assassination in jest on the internet.

My bad. I was supposed to warm up the thread with some James Garfield material. :)

Oh...and...Kerry Goode: It was insane.

How about Best 90 Seconds Performance by a Tider?

11/14/1964 with 90 seconds left in the half against GT at Grant field. As I recall, Joe Namath had not played since being injured against NCSU on 10/10. Someone correct me if I'm wrong on that. In any event, he had not played in the GT game until that point. He limps on the field with the ball deep in Bama territory after a GT punt in a scoreless tie game with an undefeated season and the NC in serious jeopardy. Halftime score? 14-0 Bama!

Steadman Shealy - 1979 Iron Bowl - 2 rushing TDs, 1 TD pass and 1 rushing PAT. He ran it (or kept it) 24 times out the the wishbone that day for a hard fought 65 yards and threw a 28 yard touchdown pass as well. Bama had 24 first downs to the barn's 11. Shealy ran that offense through their defense all afternoon.

When it comes to single game accomplishments, it is going to be tough to beat two blocked field goals to win a game against a huge rival in a year we won the national championship - and had even one of those blocks not happened, the national championship wouldn't, either.

But, in terms of the best overall performances, from 15:00 in Q1 to 0:00 in Q4, 31 tackles in a victory over Oklahoma in the Orange Bowl to win 17-0 has to be up there.

Hard to argue with Shaun Alexander against LSU in 1996.

It's pretty recent, but how about "best tandem performance" for Mark Ingram and Trent Richardson against Texas in the BCS Championship Game last season? The stat lines might not be the most impressive in the world, but how clutch is an instance of two different backs eclipsing 100 rushing yards and scoring multiple touchdowns in the national championship game against one of the best rushing defenses in the country?
