Once OU And Texas makes their exit from the Big 12, newcomer BYU (63,470) and Iowa State (61,500) will have the largest stadiums in the conference. Sure OU and Texas are capable of playing in larger stadiums, but it will be interesting to watch them navigate through their road schedule week after week in the larger SEC stadiums.

The biggest difference will probably be the insanity of the fans in the stands. They don't play too many games in environments like LSU, Auburn, the Swamp, etc.

Yea, you know you are in a hostile environment when you are dodging batteries and miniature whisky bottles at Neland or Vaught-Hemmingway.

Stadium size is a non-issue for me. Many stadiums are too large and a significant number of people are too far away from the field. Give me a slightly smaller stadium (80k vs 100k) where you can hear the band and a rabid fanbase any day.

The actual average attendance figures are more relevant though.
Texas is the only Big 12 team in the top half of the current SEC. From these attendance figures, the Big 12 is clearly losing it's two biggest attendance draws.

Alabama is #2 for the 5 year average by an average 23 people.

I don't think the size of the stadiums in the SEC will effect them. They are major programs and the counter-argument is simply players sometimes get up more for the big game if in front of a larger crowd. Style of play will however figure in a lot. (Well, that... and batteries and golf balls, as another poster pointed out...). FWIW - Hope the sips have changed a bit since we last played (Aggie here...), and you don't experience the same. Sooner fans were not a problem for us - generally knowledgeable, and good hosts when I made the trip to Norman (I recommend it if you get a chance).

It's not the fans/stadium size they'll have to adjust to the most, it's the week in/week out competition that'll blow their mind.

It's the SEC grind that will be their biggest learning curve.
Their fans--especially OU fans-- constantly mock the "SEC grind"--in their minds we are an average conference top to bottom with two heavyweights at the top--nothing less and nothing more. I've told the ones that I know we will have another discussion about it AFTER 2024 and see how they feel about then.

They don't understand in the SEC even the 4 and 5 loss teams can give you a fit.

I mean, the yearly NFL draft should dispel these notions for everyone. Some folks have to see it first hand, I guess.

We’ll find out pretty quickly if the leadership is in place from the QB positions at Texas and OU When they hit the road.
