''What they've done is unprecedented,'' Battle said Wednesday in an interview with The Associated Press. ''I have admired what they've done from afar, and for the last few months, have admired what they do up front. Coach Saban has got a great program going. He is as focused and intense a guy as I've ever been around. Everything that they do, they peel back all the layers to get down to what needs to be done as well as anybody I've ever seen.

''The impact not just on the football program but on the athletic department in general has been felt. They have motivated all of us to do a better job in all areas, from academics to life skills to other sports.''

Does anyone else think its strange that we we seem to hear more about what Bill Battle thinks than any AD we've had in the past? I mean, I rarely remember anything spoken of by our past ADs, but it seems like weekly he's saying something. Just wish he would take it down a notch.

I can understand what you're saying & actually agree with ya to a point..What Coach Saban has done deserves the praise though..What Coach Bryant did was amazing..But..What Coach Saban has done in a shorter period of time & in an age where there's more equality from top to bottom..Is even more amazing..JMO

Is this the same Bill Battle that recently suggested Roy Kramer as one of four people to decide who gets in the national championship game?

Kinda hard for an AD to properly do his job in a vacuum.

I would expect the AD to grant the occasional interview. That may be more or less often than Mal, but no big deal. I will pay attention to what he says, though, since he thinks a dufus like Kramer should be entrusted with potentially momentous decisions involving his school. I am thinking: was that a one time aberration or is there going to be a problem with his judgement?
