BINO...the 06 A. Madison

There are NO lockdown corners if the opposing QB has time to make a casserole in the pocket.....Bino covers as well as anyone we have.....look to the LOS on both sides if you want to address real problems

Yeah...actually...AM led the team in INT's in 2004. He was one of our best DB's in 2004 and 2005. He was one of the biggest reasons we shut down Texas Tech's passing game.

People give AM a hard time because he was picked on non-stop in 2003. Actually...our whole defense got picked on in 2003. To be honest...I love Bino...but I'd rather have AM out there right now. CJK made him a machine at DB and I'm hoping he can do the same with our younger guys. Simeon has come on strong this year and I expect him to be a force next year as well. Hopefully Bino will have his great game this weekend...Cox has a gift for throwing the ball to defenders.
 
Both corners have been made to look bad at times because our safety play is much weaker than last year. Last year's safeties made the corners look good. Of course, not many people pay attention to that or to how DL play influences the way the defensive backfield appears...

Understood, but our tackling in the defensive backfield has been lacking as well, IMO.

Great observation Earle, you pretty much hit the nail on the head. Plus, we were getting a bit of heat on the QB..
 
I agree on the tackling, but, despite Bino's being knocked above, the fact of the matter is that he's the best fundamental tackler back there. The others are leaning on receivers or blocking them down.
 
I agree that the safety play hasn't been up to snuff this year, and I think many of us halfway expected this, what we didn't expect was the anemic pass rush. If we had some studs up front we would be much happier with our defensive backfield overall. Funny how that works.
 
anthony madison also made an NFL roster and is playing with the steelers. not too shabby.

he also got burnt very badly yesterday by Drew Brees and the saints receiver.


Listen, I know tht if we could pressure the opposing QB more, it would help the defensive backs...i've just had a bad taste in my mouth about BINO since, earlier in the season, when a Crimson Tradition video played during a game and they interviewed Bino.....he was saying that he should be called "show-stopper" or "playmaker", etc....while the game was going on...It may have been on during the Hawaii game.
 
i thouhgt last year overall madison was an excellent corner, and to call bino anthony madison of 06 would be a compliment.
 
Every year we listen to complaints about our corners who get burned on occasion, and who then go on to careers in the NFL. Madison is the latest one, and he played very good last night for the Steelers. Fernando, Mangum, Deshea, and McMillan all had their share of detractors. I won't be surprised to see Bino on Sunday next year.
 
I think Bino is a good leader for the secondary as well as the entire defense. Also, if you can't tell that he has been putting in his hours in the weightroom you are not looking very close, that guy is a beast.
 
I thought this thread was going to be a compliment.Madison did a fine job once he became experienced at Bama.Played great in the Cotton bowl win.He has seen a bit of time with Pittsburgh this season.Got to play a bunch Sunday due to an injury to Townsend.Gave up a few plays but hes smallish for a NFL corner.Did himself proud just to make a roster.Congrats A.M.Hardwork pays off.
 
Madison had a pretty rough season in 2003 and had a lot of criticism passed his way (probably deservedly so). He was not a liability on 2004 and was actually a pretty doggone good corner. He was rock solid in 2005. All of the improvement Madison showed came from hard work. He put his mind to it and willed himself to be as good as, or better than, others who may have had more natural ability. How can anyone knock a player that shows that much moxie? Madison made me a fan of his.
 
I think it is a combination of things with RR:
1) No pass rush
2) Trying to help out weak safeties by playing somewhat off his man and toward theirs
3) A sometimes poor attitude - by that I mean, several times a ball has been overthrown to his man and he would hop up making some gesture that said he stopped the catch from occuring. Or, getting up and strutting when making a routine play. I understand that I am probably considered old school. I don't have a problem with a little showing off when something good is done, just not a routine play you are supposed to make or when you didn't even make a play.

That said, I like RR and think he has been a great player and he played hurt and tough last year and that makes up for a lot of things in my book. I believe he will get a chance in the pro's and probably do well because of his work ethic.
