That makes my blood run cold. First, around 10-15 years ago, I got a letter from them saying they had "lost" my 1040 and would I mind sending them a copy. I did and no further word from them. This year, I got a deficiency notice because I'd omitted sending the supporting form for the "pass-through" deduction. I had not omitted it. I sent a copy, with a letter saying that it had not been omitted from the original return. Then, I got another letter, substantially the same thing. I sent another copy, with an irate letter that this was the third time I'd submitted the form. A couple of weeks ago, I got a letter acknowledging receipt of the form, apologizing for the delay and stating that it was taking some time to "analyze" my return. Good Lord!!

About 15 years ago I opened my back door and there was a possum on the top step. We were within 2 feet of each other. I've never seen so many teeth. It startled the hell out of the both of us. I jumped back and yelled "get out of here." The possum took off.

Up close, they look pretty vicious.

They're toothy, all right. We are overrun with fawns right now. One the park rangers next door are trying to get it adopted into the herd, while they try to nurse the mom back to health. She was dangerously ill, probably from blood loss. She had claw marks on her side, up high and deep. I don't think I have to explain what that means. The pix popped up on a group my wife belongs to and I don't. If she can send it to me, I'll post it...

While I was at UA, my mom made our family dog eat her food before getting any treats and like most dogs she'd do anything for the treats. I'm home one weekend and my mom tells me that she has been refusing to eat inside and will only eat it outside on the patio which was screened in with a doggie door to the yard but not the house. My mom said she would knock when finished and that I needed to turn on the light to see if she had finished everything before I could give her any treats. Once, I decided to go out before she knocked and when I stepped out I found her casually lounged on the patio furniture while a possum dutifully ate her food. They both looked at me with big eyes --like Oh ********* our gig is finished... LOL!

My wife and I were once in between houses and were living in a small rental out in the country. One night I was awakened by a squirrel running over our chests. I screamed, which woke up Mrs. 1967. I was able to capture our guest in a trash can and return him to nature.

As Earle has posted, having a camera set up really helps with any wildlife concerns.

Speaking of possums....this little one was bogarting the grapes I leave out for my resident box turtles. I trapped and re-located him to a local park with more habitat and no doubt more food for the little guy.

Pay no attention to the incorrect date codes.

The turtles are happy....

We still have them, along with the armadillos and coons. The foxes have done away with most of the small game. Apparently, the coons can defend themselves, at least from the foxes. I knew the cougars were here. There was one road-killed just a couple of miles away, north of here, but off the mountain, a few years ago...

I think I’ve shared this story before. A few years ago at our Poke Sallit supper a woman made possum dressing. Of course she didn’t say anything until after most of it was gone. Several ate it thinking it was chicken and dressing made with dark meat. When the secret was reveal several people got visibly nauseated. To her credit, she did it “right.” She had her son trap it and she fed it potatoes for a week to “clean it out.” She was raised in the depression and grew up poor. She said they regularly caught them, cleaned them out and ate possum for supper. Fwiw I tried some of it. The dressing wasn’t bad. A little greasy but not bad.

I guess the cooking process kills the Hansen's bacteria (leprosy), but I would be uncomfortable...
