With bandaids, superglue, old bandages, tape, and you name it, he has the Bravos back on top from a six point deficit.

It may not last and we will probably be blown out at the finals again, but at least it looks like we have a chance to go to the final dance once more.

I still miss Rocker!!!

JH-ATL, what exactly do you miss about Rocker? He is not shredding the AL (currently 2-3, only 2 saves & a 6.17 ERA). Plus, I like Smoltz in the pen. He could be a great closer.

I agree, say what you will about Cox's questionable moves/over managing in the post season, he has put us in a position to win year-in & year out. Plus, it certainly beats 1970-90, with the exception of 1982!

The National League is wide open, so I expect us to ultimately win the East (the Phils have to fade) & get back into the playoffs & hopefully win it all.

Go Braves (& of course Bruins!)

I'm been holding off on Braves threads because I don't want to seem like a "homer" but I disagree with just about everything Bobby Cox does. I think the real credit should go to John Scherholtz. That guy constantly finds good, young talent early in their careers and molds them through the farm system into above average players. Look at Jermane Dye. People in baseball are salivating over him but he was mired in the Braves organization. Plus, y'all gotta admit that the NL East isn't exactly the killer division. Put the Braves in the Yankees/Red Sock division and I don't see them getting to the playoffs as much as they have.
With that said, I see the Braves making the playoffs but losing in the 2nd round. They have learned to play REAL baseball lately rather than relying on the long ball like they did in the past....

"I like the situation we're going to be coming into next year. Everybody is going to be sitting back and looking right past Alabama. We're going to sneak right up and smack 'em in the mouth."

UC90L

I liked the excitement he brought to the game, charging the mound, 98 mile\hour fastballs, and the look in his face when he reared back to throw.

Now Chipper Jones knocked up a Hotters girl when he was married, and Andrew Jones is down at the Gold Club having sex with two prostitutes while two men watch, and we all know about the NBA guy. Tell me Rockers' statements were worse than these actions. .....difference, he is a white Southern boy so the news downplays it.

bilboa@work

At least it's Friday.

I understand where you are coming from with Cox, but we have lost some of the best talent in the league through what I consider bad trades.....many of them bats...which is why we never win in the end.

I agree JH, we really need another big bat in the lineup. Caminiti has been a pleasant suprise so far. His bat has come alive and he's played some pretty good first base for someone who just now learned the position. I also like Marcus Giles. He's a little spitfire. I heard last week that the Braves were not going to be making any blockbuster moves before the deadline. Isn't the deadline tomorrow?

Team of
the
Century

Tuesday is the final trade day, before all the other crap kicks in that makes futher trades impossible.

I am keeping my fingers crossed for at least one good bat.

If we do not get it, we'll make the play-offs and then get blown away as usual.

Rey Sanchez is not exactly "the bat" we were looking for, but he is batting over .300 (NO home runs) for a horrible Royals team & it does shore up the middle infield. Who knows how long DeRosa could keep it up? Will Quilvio ever get off the DL? Jordan got great news after it looked like that would be a gruesome injury. I still cannot really like Brian since he deserted the Falcons, but we certainly need him.

Who else remained available? Did Greg Vaughn get traded anywhere?

Go Braves & Bruins!!!!

Bilbo,I remember when Dye was in Atlanta Cox had nothing but praise for him. I heard him on several occassions say he reminded him of a young Hank Aaron the way he approached hitting. I was hoping for another good bat also, Surhoff is okay and so is Martinez but I feel they need a little more pop in the line-up. To me they have not had a true clutch hitter, that I have a good feeling about, since Justice left and I couldn't stand him and his attitude. GO BRAVES
