I have a co-worker that same age that was dating her now fiance.. She thought nothing of encouraging a guy in our dept to leave his wife and daughter so they could go on a 2 or 3 month escapade of shacking up and cavorting around while she waited on her boyfriend to propose. I dont know too many broads that age, but the ones I know all seem to have a similar mindset.

Some folks have their chronology messed up. Rumors of DuBose's affair hit the news in late May 1999. They were not "proven" or whatever until August 1999. Dubious had to pay a $360K settlement out of his pocket & had 2 years of his contract removed. He was not kept because he was winning; he was kept because it was August. He didnt win the SEC until AFTER the affair was exposed. The anger reached fever pitch when we lost to La Tech that year. It faded quickly when we beat UF in the Swamp. He had his contract years restored after the SEC title game.

The next year we began at #3 and had the worst year I can remember. He finally got forced out after the UCF loss (even though a November sweep would have won the SEC West).

Just so we are clear: we did not keep DuBose initially because he was winning. His record was 11-12 when the story first broke. We kept him because it was August.

I don't think we ought to pack his bags just yet. The PTB will want to let things settle down rather than making a rash decision. My money would be they censure him and possibly impose some type monetary fine or salary reduction. These people are smart enough to know that they cannot find a better coach and certainly not one in April. The bottom line is unfortunately, not about right or wrong, but keeping the program at a high level.

Don't know how much of that is the case at Arkansas. It certainly helps Petrino's cause that it's early April, as opposed to, say, late December. Arkansas will be in an almost impossible spot if they have to get a replacement. Best option may simply be go interim route and then hire from outside this November or December (with the express understanding that in no way will the interim head coach be promoted).

That too. But keep in mind it's pretty hard to fire a winner unless he pulls a Woody Hayes. What if, God forbid, Arkansas wins the West or the SEC? That's why we kept Dubious.

I think he's toast. The longer we go with no action taken, the louder the drum beat will get, not necessarily within the walls of hogville, but from the rest of the SEC. The easiest thing to do is to cut strings and go interim. As some of the radio guys were saying earlier, when you look at the fact that he hired this girl 2 weeks ago, you start looking at the rules coorporate America has to go by. Things like equal employment opportunity and sexual harassment come in to play. So you are not just looking at an employee messing around on his wife with a co-worker. They cant relocate her, they cant fire her, and they cant let them continue to work together. That really only leaves them with one option.

No, I'm with SBT, on this one. There is no excuse, other than hate, for lumping CBP in with 3 legendary, yet tough-as-nails, "old school" coaches. There is simply no comparison. Trying to imply they were only successful, because they could "turn on the charm", to recruits, is a lot of garbage.

The only coach he should have tried to equate him to is Rick Pitino.

We kept DuBose because we had ZERO Leadership at the top, and did not have the guts or sense to fire one of "Bear's Boys" and replace him with an interim HC. August was just the convienent excuse

Then you missed Dodd's point completely, too - he wasn't trying to compare them, he was contrasting them - highlighting the difference between those coaches and CBP.

He already admitted an 'inappropriate relationship' with her, lied to his boss about is, and, unless it was a 'one night stand' hired his mistress as an employee, making the school ripe for a sexual harassment case.

If he survives this at arky well know exactly what's important to the university.

if they tie the relationship to prior to her employment, it will be hard to keep him on...
an affair, they can manage through the PR, but the hiring of an employee that he was having an affair with...thats on a whole 'nother level.

I think there may be some potential legal exposure here against the university for other candidates of the position. According to what I read last night, The University of Arkansas HR website had indicated that they would be accepting job applications for the position until 4/27/12. However, Jessica was hired the same day that the job was posted (3/28/12). A couple of days later she is out with her boss for a ride on his motorcycle and they have a wreck. The boss, his family, and his employer originally stated that he was alone on the motorcycle, but now the boss is admitting to a "previous inappropriate relationship" with his new direct report and that she was also on the motorcycle.

This does not look good. While we know that such hiring practices take place, no employer, particularly as public university, wants these indiscretions aired out in public because it may lead to other investigations. I know of a company where some employees reported complaints to the Department of Labor about the hiring practices. After the labor department's investigation, the HR compliance department (director and all) along with the VP of HR were all fired and escorted from the premises.
