Team Performance

  • Royals
    • 6–4 in their last 10 games; won 1 in a row
    • Overall record stands at 52–54, holding 3rd place in the AL Central. 8.5 games back of Tigres; 4.0 games back in wildcard
    • 26-27 at home
  • Braves:
    • 2–8 in their last 10 games, lost last 5 in a row
    • 17 games back; 12 games back of wildcard
    • In last 10, offense batting just .228, a pitching ERA of approximately 6.83, and being outscored by 26 runs during that span
    • 18-34 away
Series Context
  • Spencer Strider is 4–8 with a 3.72 ERA and 89 strikeouts, facing veteran Rich Hill, whose lone appearance yielded a solid 1.80 ERA over 5 innings in his Royals debut at age 45
  • Game Two likely features a bullpen-heavy approach for Atlanta as they navigate injuries and limited rotation depth. Kansas City counters with Seth Lugo, who has been steady with a 7–5 record and a 2.95 ERA through approximately 99 strikeouts in 2025
  • Game Three currently lists Joey Wentz projected for Kansas City. Atlanta's starter hasn't been named yet, reflecting open rotational decisions or bullpen strategy late in the series
LET'S GO BRAVES!

Got no pitching left. Everybody is on the IL.

This team hopefully stays out of the cellar, but with no pitching they may fall behind Washington

Braves tried to blow it in the 9th but hang on 10-7.
Tried to give it a way - Hernandez, Lee, and Montero gave up 5 runs in 7-8-9 innings and, amazingly, Iglesias got the save w/o allowing a hit or run! Montero didn't get a single out while allowing 3 runs and 2BB in the 9th.

So frustrating that they have a great offensive output and very good starting pitching like tonight and yet still have a struggle win. But that is who this team is. They normally just don't get the win in the struggle games this year.

Top 4 in the lineup finally produced ... together (8 hits, 20 ABs). 5-9 struggled (2 hits in 15 ABs) but did get on base with an incredible 10 walks across the 5 players. Braves got 14 walks overall. That helps.

Clearly this means Iglesias is awesome and we dumb fans don't understand baseball like Snit.
