This is the first time I have posted on the Pro-sports board, but I am fired up on the Braves play since the Rocker deal. I am an Altanta native (& huge Braves/Falcons fan)stuck in the middle of Padres, Chargers, Dodgers, Angels, Lakers hell (at least sports-wise, I have been in So Cal a long time & do love San Diego!).
I think we run away from the fading Phillies & bury the Marlins in the next couple months.
The Rocker trade obviously alleviated the tension in the clubhouse & may end up being great for both teams as Rocker has set 6 down in row in recording his first two saves for the Tribe. Wouldn't Atlanta/Cleveland be a great World Series?

It was very tense there for a while, but like you said, the Rocker trade took care of that. I still hate to see that he had to leave. A "good ole boy" shouldn't have play for anyone other than the Braves or maybe the 'stroes.

One thing I have to say, is that the this could be one of the smartest trades made in baseball.. Granted, I'm basing this all on the performance of the two teams this week. Atlanta has been playing with such vigor. Now whether that has anything to do with team chemistry, remains to be seen.

For one, I hate to see Rocker go, because despite his indiscretions, he's a passionate player who puts all his effort into his game. No one can doubt that.. And that is so evident by the way he played last night in New York. While I'm opposed to his political attitude and the many bad things he's said in the past, as said earlier, I admire his fire power, and he shut down the Yanks. Cleveland was smart to trade for him..

Who knows, maybe at the end of the season we'll say the same about the Braves. Fact is -- it's working currently, they seem to have come back to the same team we have known and love for years (speaking for those are fans of the Braves)... But still, it's too early to say this is what brings the Braves together or gives Cleveland that edge they need to get past the Yanks and not choke in the post season...

In the least, however, it should make for a fun post-season. Can you imagine, what if the World Series came down to a Rocker-Chipper show down...Hmm.. that could be very interesting.

I agree that Rocker's skills as a closer are absolutely top-notch, but no one can excuse his ignorant and offensive comments & it was obvious that there were still problems in the clubhouse. Hopefully the bats stay hot & we can roll to another Division Title on our way to the World Series!

Now come on guys. Are you going to tell me Chipper Jones is not hitting well because he is pouting over Rocker. I do not think so.

This was the worst trade made in baseball in a couple of years. So what if Rocker shot off his mouth.A lot of players do it. He just happened to be a Southern white boy. He did not kill someone on the streets in Buckhead. By the way that team took him back because of his talent

You do not get a shot at talent like that but once in a while. We'll do the same old thing this year, go to the playoffs, batting slumps, only difference is that our bullpen will not be strong enough to maybe keep us in it.

This team will miss Rocker whether they will admit it or not.

They did not get rid of Chipper for getting that young Hooters girl pregnant. Is getting a young girl pregnant out of wedlock worse than shooting off your mouth?

Then let's get rid of Chipper Jones.

Just figured I would pop this post back to the top since we are again back in first & currently leading Cincy in the 8th today.

Do you think we will make any more moves before the trading deadline?

Go Braves & of course BRUINS of 9/1
