What aspect on offense will the Tide be able to count on this year? I would like to say the RB's, but they're young for the most part. The receiving corps will be extremely young and inexperienced unless A.C. can make it back on the field. And the QB position, which would be a strength if it doesn't get turned into a MASH unit again. I guess what I'm really getting at is can the OL consistantly open holes or maintain a pocket this year? I have faith that the Tide will find a way, I'm just curious what that way will be.

Just a guess but I'd say that the running game will be the bread and butter, at least at first. IMO, the Tide has 3 good RBs than carry the rock and don't need fantastic blocking, just decent blocking to get some yardage. Since it appears that the WRs will probably be young and VERY inexperienced, it'll take a while for them to get "acclimated" to the SEC and Brodie to feel comfortable enough to go to them regularly. Of course, I could be wrong and the new, young WRs may take to the offense like a duck to water and be able to catch everything that's thrown to them. I'd love to see that but that's asking a lot of an 18 year old kid.

So, my guess is that the O will have quite a few running plays with some safe 3-5 yd down and out passes, screen passes and a few reverses thrown in for good measure.

IMO, THE critical thing that has to happen for the team to have some success is the offensive line absolutely HAS to play better. I'm not saying that all 5 starters need to be All SEC but they've got to do a better job protecting Brodie, the offense MUST do a better job of picking up the blitz and make opposing teams pay for blitzing and finally, get some decent blocks on running plays. If that can happen, the Tide will be the surprise team of the SEC. Mark my words. If not, it's going to be another long season.

TiderinVa, good thoughts.

It could be the case that the coaching staff moved Evan Mathis to left guard beside Wesley Britt to have one really strong side to run over, with our 250 lb fullback leading the tailback through their hole.

With a two tight end formation that could be our "go to" series of plays when we really need to grind it out.

First of all, Prothro and Brandon Brooks will be go to guys! The problem is that both are undersized. The real meat and potatoes of this team will definitely start with the run. However, I fully expect some of our true freshman receivers to be studs early and often!

Yes, we have to block so Brodie can find them, but I expect we'll get much better timing after a few games. Fortunately our schedule begins light enough that we "SHOULD" get that needed few games under our belt prior to the first Test.
