Well we had to forfeit games played in 1992 but vacated wins for the textbook scandal. A forfeit gives the opposing team a victory while "vacating" does not.

I don't think we forfeited any wins from 1992. All the wins in 1993 except for the bowl game I believe were forfeited.

Even in light of this, Kiffin's departure makes sense... Just talking with a buddy about this, so it's on my mind. Thought I would ramble about it here.

Option 1: He ticked off everyone within a 500 mile radius, including some members of the UT athletic department. The team was in need of a lot of talent to make the step from mid-tier in the SEC East to competing with Florida. Winning may come, but it would take a few years. Plus, with the tension he built, a bad season may cost him his job sooner than later.

Option 2: USC gets sanctions, so no one else wants the job; virtually nothing could cause USC to fire him. He is "in good" with the AD. He gets a large pay raise, more job security, and elite talent from the get-go. If he doesn't do well, he can always say, "Well, the sanctions prevented me from doing well..." So, win or lose, he banks $4 million, has good job security, and great talent.

Good points!! the ironic thing is that Kiffen was part of that whole mess when he was at USC!! some of those sanctions were caused by him and the Orge. :wink:
his 1 year stint at UT show how he hasn't change one bit. it will be just a matter of time when the dynamic duo strikes again!

Great post, makes alot of sense. How smart is Pete Carrol in all this? Again, as always the kids and fans end up losing. Everyone else will be fine. :conf2:

Sounds about right. The nzaa didn't gain any credibility with me over this. I think they knew with the conference expansions on the horizon, their position was unsteady and they had to show an evenhanded approach or lose all credibility with the conferences.
On the horizon with U$C is the possibility that Kiffen will commit more infractions during the probation period. Then look out.

Any mention of Alabama's sanctions for the Means case brings an automatic and completely predictable "Bama really cheated, but we didn't... the NCAA just made up stuff against us... blah, blah, blah." So, they believe that the NCAA makes up "evidence" against them, but couldn't possibly have done the same thing against Bama. What hypocritical phallic wardrobes they are.

Now everyone can trash USC just like the their fans did to Alabama 8 years ago. I'm going to enjoy every minute of it. I'm going to be singing Tool's Aenima in the shower in the morning in all its glory and I think I'll revise the lyrics to include the "whining Trojan fans" in the stead of the "insecure actresses".

The Spread 12 falling apart is just icing on the cake. :biggrin:

I'm still waiting to see how many of the scholarship losses are actually football related. If the twenty includes basketball it may not be as severe as it initially looks.

True, but a 2 year bowl ban, 5 year probation, and forfeiting wins is nothing to sneeze at either...fwiw I believe most of the scholarships losses will be football related since from what we know the most violations occurred with the football program.

Anyway, those are serious penalties indeed. I think many SouCal fans may be in shock as it seemed nothing would ever come of this. But, on the bright side they now have the perfect coach along with his Daddy to lead them through the coming storm.. :biggrin:
