Brent Key on what it's like to coach CFB in Today's Era

  • HELLO AGAIN, Guest! We are back, live! We're still doing some troubleshooting and maintenance to fix a few remaining issues but everything looks stable now (except front page which we're working on over next day or two)

Thanks for your patience and support! MUCH appreciated! --Brett (BamaNation)

if you see any problems - please post them in the Troubleshooting board!

Thanks for posting this, even though the first guy asking the first question has a rant from last year full of expletives about Bama coming back to the pack and not being the best anymore. You could feel the hatred lol

Brent Key will probably get an opportunity in the SEC eventually if he keeps up the run at Ga. Tech.

It'll be interesting to see if that brand of football will work as the SEC continues to go full scale offensive mode in this current era.

Seeing how teams like Ga Tech can now get players they used to not be able to get, I'm not sure making a move to the SEC is something Key would even consider, other than him doing it just for the money. Also, as Bobby Bowden once said, it's easier to win in the ACC than in the SEC. Key can build up his team just like Dabo did and be king of the ACC and have a much easier path to the playoffs.

He lost his best player (Singleton) to the LA Yellorwoods. It didn't seem to affect Tech that much and the barn doesn't have anyone that can throw the football.

It would not hurt my feelings if Tech beat UGA. In fact, I would love it.

Not sure he would want to come to the SEC pressure cooker. Seems he has a good thing going at Tech and I bet they have more money to throw his way.

If he's smart, he'll stay at GT, and make them a perennial contender. He's well on his way. Schools are going to want to spend all that big-time coaching contract money on the athletes, facilities, and hands-on coordinator staff in the future. The lesson learned by LSU right now, and Florida/Penn State, OK State, so many others looking for a coach right now, is that long term, 8-9 figure coaching contracts with guarantees are going the way of the dodo bird.

I can see a long term contract with a dollar amount tied to wins per season. And that's it.

Yeah Georgia is finally learning what it’s like to have an actual tough game before the sec championship game. The second Brent Key became the coach, that game became way more competitive on the field.

I am really looking forward to this year’s game cause it’s in Atlanta.
