Brent Schaeffer to Tide?

I find this 99.99999999999% unlikely to be true, but on the off-off-off-off chance that it happens, why the heck wouldn't we take him? He's got talent. Just 'cause he went to UT doesn't mean he's damaged goods.

This post is nut's

BS is in no way or fashion transfering to UA. Yes he may transfer but it would be to a Fla. school or the barn. IMO he would only consider a school he was interested in during his recruitment as in MG whom left UM to come to UA.

his strengths don't really fit the CMS pro-set. That's really the reason he's riding the pine at UT. He'd make Fran a hell of a QB...
I would say the kid has a better chance then Ainge, winning SEC or NC for phats and the gang. They won there title with a run and gun QB, it seems to fit there system better in my opinion. Pure drop back passers at ut has never won them the big ones.

After reflection...

ya'll are right about the SEC. Only in the SEC, if there's not a release, the student-athlete must pay his own way for one year, without a release. The NCAA requires only the one year sit-out. This came up after Travis Carroll was not granted a release by Dubose. Since he was living in a trailer park and had had his truck repoed, no one could see where the $$ could legitmately come from to pay for his year at FL. Magically, it did... :)

I was just coming in here to correct a misconception further up the thread...

Schaeffer would not have to sit out two years. He would, however, have to pay his own way for a couple of years if he didn't get a release.

It's a lovely rumor, but I don't think it's likely.

With all due respect to the young man, why would we want him? We will have Brodie next year with Barnes and White and possibly Crompton as freshmen who will understudy Brodie and then have 4 years to play for the Tide.

Schaeffer is OK but not that good. OK for the Viles but not good enough for the Tide!
