Bryce Young and Carolina's Struggles

Bryce Young needed to sit for a couple of years behind a solid PRO QB. Problem is Carolina traded a haul and then selected him #1, which means he had to play regardless if he is ready or not. What Carolina has done to Young is borderline criminal imo. I'm not saying Bryce should not be shielded from blame, because he has not played well at all but Carolina has not put Bryce is the best position to succeed and that is on then. So when they move on from Bryce, I hope Young find success with a better franchise.
You’re not wrong, but as you said in your post, they had to play him. There have been a handful of 1st round picks who haven’t immediately started over the last 10 years, Love, Mahomes, Penix, but they’re few and far between. I get it when you put that much money into a player, but it’s a messed up system.

"Bryce Young signed a 4 year , $37,955,071 contract with the Carolina Panthers, including $24,603,688 signing bonus, $37,955,071 guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $9,488,768." I would sit back and learn as much as I could and cash my weekly check. You can't get clobbered or get a concussion sitting on the bench.
#1 pick backup NFL QB has to be the best job in the world.

Yep, the windows in the NFL are extremely small.

Bryce and Mac were thrown into starting roles they just weren't ready for. Mac had a good first season, but that stuff they did in New England ruined him.

Both these guys have confidence problems now. They got thrown into the meat grinder.
Lot depends on scheme and roster. They should look at what makes Murray successful (relatively) for a short QB. I feel like Bryce will be out of NFL before Mac.

Mac success in large part in college was the short timing routes .. they are non existent with NFL defenses.

A yr ago Bama had 4 starting NFL qbs…..after decades of none. Right now we’re down to one, in Philly. I truly can’t believe it.

Listened to "Get Up" this am...they blasted the Panthers for their treatment of BY. Especially Jeff Saturday and Ryan ? said that it bordered on "criminal" (my word) how they had thrown him to the wolves. One series in pre-season...new offense and minimal improvement in the OL. I was very surprised that they did not fault Bryce but the coaches/gm.

For whatever reasons he is not ready for this team with. their structure (or lack of it.) He needs to sit, soak, and work really hard to understand their system all the way through. Unfortunately, you cannot fake confidence. If Baker Mayfield can be resurrected so can Bryce Young.

He needs to get out of Carolina. That organization is a clown show.

Its an unintended consequence of the draft system.. Worst team, for plenty of reasons, gets to pick first..they pick the best player and expect them to turn around a turgid team in one season without fixing the other issues. With no improvement in the OL they are asking for trouble. The prized QB pick will get hammered and potentially lost for the season or altogether. GMs need to stop thinking drafting a top QB is the magic elixir and build a sound team THEN draft a QB or get one through trade. I feel for BY, Mac and even a little for sunshine....nah...not him....but its also happening with Williams ( so far) and others...the North Dakota guy etc...Brady called it out in an interview recently.

“Let’s get rid of Tua to get an even shorter Bama QB! It’s so crazy it just might work!”
I don't think it is the height because he was playing with and against players that are the same height and size as the NFL while at Alabama. If height were the problem it would have shown in college. I think it is more of a lack of confidence and a lack of proper internal structure by the Panthers.

That’s why I said it that way. I should have used blue font. Height isn’t the issue.

Yeah, Kiper fried the Panther's front office. I saw that at lunch and it's hard to argue with him. Sam Darnold and Baker Mayfield both left Carolina and amazingly now look like competent NFL quarterbacks with their new teams.
And a re-build of a QB's psyche is much harder for the second team. Better to not destroy it in the first place.

Bryce had better receivers and offensive line and RBs at Bama. Of course he’s gonna struggle. Carolina has Mississippi state level talent right now.
