According to Goodbread, Dismukes to Auburn is as sure as "Death and Taxes."
So was Spencer Region to Alabama. Until the announcement is made, nobody can make a promise and statement that says player X is as good to school y as sure as "Death and Taxes."

With that said, he should be fine at Auburn, but absolutely abuse by Alabama's DL for his stay at Moo City College.

Best of luck to him. Playing time is more important to some than playing for a great coaching staff. We need guys that want to come in and compete. Losing guys that want immediate playing time is a side effect of having a lot of depth but not one that I mind at all :)

I'll be fair and honest... He would've been a great player to have, but now he's just sealed his fate of being destroyed for the next 4 yrs. I think his quote last night was most telling. He said something to the effect of "one team is already on top and one team is on its way there" (speaking of Bama and AU). If recruits truly think that the barn is on there way to a national championship then thats the first BS they believed... then its all down-hill from there.

I, for one, will be happy to see this thread locked.

Thanks. I know there are a lot of factors that go into deciding what school you want to attend. The idea of early playing time is a tempting offer that can help push that decision one way or another. But one thing you notice with many of our recruits that have committed to Alabama is that they mention how Saban promises them nothing. He says if you work hard and dedicate yourself you MIGHT start. For some guys that is good and they respect that because they know the competition will push them to improve themselves. Nothing given to you because you have to work hard to earn it and some of these kids eventually get tired of being promised the moon.

For others the easy way is the road they want to jump on. Guaranteed starting spot on a Division 1 school in a major conference without even seeing the practice field. Through my crimson colored glasses it seems like an easy decision if it was me. Go to a school with an incredible coaching staff that will push me to be the best without promising me anything. I can compete against some of the best football players in the country while possibly preparing myself for a future shot at the NFL by coaches who know the NFL very well. But again these kids have to do what they feel is best for them. It is just that the decision seems like it would be simple for me ;)

It works out for us because we want the type of player that wants to compete, that wants nothing given to him. He wants to work to earn his position even if it means beating out a guy that has been a 3 year starter or another stellar athlete. Competition pushes you to be the best IMO

Maybe it's the mullet and the rag around his head, but he looks like he was enjoying all the festivities of 420 yesterday.

well he has a press conference set up, imagine that the auburn camp wants to get some good news out after alabama's recruiting gold rush in the last week.
Also, I think I was pretty accurate in that regard.

It's not fair to jump to the conclusion that because a kid we want goes elsewhere he doesn't have the stomach for competition or doesn't want to play for championships.

Woe to us if the players who came to Tuscaloosa during the down days, when we had no championships and very little coaching to offer, had followed this line of thinking.

For every Spencer Region freak show, there are dozens of good kids and fine football players who simply prefer some other school.

Let's not make that personal decision a matter of character, unless we want others questioning ours.

I think he's a good player, and has the potential to play on Sundays, but. . .

whenever you wear a doo-rag with a suit and tie to a press conference, you look like a dork.

Let the bashing begin.

That pic says it all. What a dork.
Everyone take note here...

Let's all take it easy on Dismukes. There is a board rule against unfair criticism or bashing of recruits. I did not hear of any Bama bashing comments from him before, during, or after his commitment. Of course I have not read but one commitment article. I have not heard that he grabbed a Bama ballcap and tossed it over his shoulder on the floor or anything disrespectful like that.

Most of knew this was coming. Dismukes made his decision and yes Bama wanted him but he choose Auburn instead. That apparrently was were his heart is and there is nothing wrong with that. I personally wish him the best, except against Bama of course.

I never criticized him for his decision on where to play football. I criticized him for his decision to wear a doo-rag with a suit. I didn't think that was undue, but if it is, I apologize.

lol well I had typed up a long response then my browser crashed on me. Trying to get up the desire to remember and retype it all...let's see...

I'm not saying Reese Dismukes is a bad kid or that he lacks the stomach for competition. From what I've heard early playing time was a factor for him (unless i'm wrong which i'll freely admit I have been before!). I'm sure it wasn't the only issue that helped weigh his decision one way or the other but it sounds like it had some to do with it. I'm just saying I like it when I see a player that we're recruiting come out and say that they liked the fact that weren't promised anything. That CNS shot straight with them and said you'll have to work hard to see the field.

I am very happy that players like Mike Johnson, Javier Arenas, DeMeco Ryans, Roman Harper, LeRon McClain etc came to Alabama when times were tough and we were struggling. All of those guys worked hard to be where they are now and I'm proud to say they wore crimson jersey's. I just think it will be tougher to get some recruits because we cannot offer instant playing time at most positions now due to depth. Sounds like Reese has AU fans in his family to so that's understandable if you grew up a fan of that school. Either way I wish him luck, sounds like he has a lot of talent and will do well.
