Cam Newton is the real deal, period. I posted a few weeks back when he was being compared to Tim Tebow that Cam will be in a conversation of his own. Hopefully we'll shadow him much better than LSWho did because you simply cannot let him get to the open field.

We(Bama) are missing too many tackles and we cannot afford to do this against the barn. On another note, I was pleased with the continue developing of D. Milliner...hopefully Dre will hit the weight room next year and start bringing the pain when he tackle.

Cam definitely has to be the front runner for the Heisman..Even if he doesn't win it fair & square..I bet he'll steal one for himself anyways..Either way he'll get a Heisman Trophy..

Cam Newton media coverage has jumped out of the sports sub section into the Top Stories on Google News with over 1200 articles listed. Around this time last year we started receiving the same coverage as the Heisman and the top team(s) began to really take shape. Maybe after the LSU game. I would have never believed at season's begin that Auburn had a legitimate chance to match our parlay from last year, but they have a great shot now for sure.

I still believe that Ole Miss is a trap game though. I believe they will beat Georgia, so it's either us or the Rebs. The SEC East is not a problem.

2 questions: does he have 1 or 2 years of eligibility left, and is he prime to go pro next year?

Also, the key to beating Auburn is for your offense to have ball control with a solid ground game. LSU did a fairly good job of that, but their offense couldn't put enough points on the board.

I wanna know how Auburn got him?

Were there not other schools looking to recruit him as well?

He's a Junior, so has another year. I hope he goes pro (with the same enthusiasm I have in hoping none of Alabama's guys ever go early :)). I guess like with Alabama's guys, it will depend on the impending NFL lockout. If no issues there, I can't imagine him staying. He seems developed enough to me, and there aren't a ton of other quarterbacks with his skill set coming out this year.

Agree...he also runs patiently and I'm wondering if this is Malzahn influenced because its actually a bit different; If you watch him on a running play, he hovers directly behind his blockers, just barely keeping his feet moving, hesitates until his linemen engages the defensive players in front of him and then makes his move and hits the hole. Most qbs or running backs just hit it full force but he doesn't. Combine that with a senior Oline that can maul the dline, and it makes it look easy.
On one particular play in the second half yesterday, Newton was practically glued to his blockers backside and rode him for almost 10 yds with LSU defenders piled on both of them, and then once they got about 9-10yds he broke away and got even more. Very unique, imo.
It's like watching ballroom dancing it's almost pretty to watch unless you are on the receiving end.

I think he'll go this year too. He's already made it publicly know that his a hearta still resides'a with the Gators. Leaving a little suspense in your potential is better than getting exposed.

It seems that you very rarely do you see a player repeat an off the charts year. It probably has something to do with not being able to surpass the heights you established or the buzz from being the new kid and the excitement from it. You can actually have a mentally flat season.

There's no doubt that Cam is an great athlete, and he seems very tough to stop. As far as the game with Auburn, I am not shaking in my boots about it. Sure, they could beat us, but I know we can beat them if we play well. Cam is going to put up some yards and points against anyone, but if offense plays well, we will be the best Auburn has faced except maybe Arky. Everybody is reeling from him putting up a big game on LSU's awesome defense, but when you look at LSU's games, their defense hasn't been all that great. They gave up 24 to NC, 29 to Florida, and 24 to Aubie, and those have reallly been the only tough teams they've played. They haven't played Arky yet, and they aren't going to play South Carolina or even Georgia. A lot of Aubies are really taking us lightly right, and I'm fine with that. I'd love for their team to as well, because if they do, we willl embarrass them. I doubt that will be the case though, I think it will be a great game, and we will have to play our best. I truly believe will we have a plan contain him. We aren't going to stop him, but if we play our game, we won't have to.

Cam Newton is an incredible athlete. But he can be outscored. Hell Kentucky almost did it. Clemson took them into overtime. Mississippi State had too many mistakes. Arkansas scored 40 on them with their backup QB. Of course LSU isn't going to outscore them with their offense.

Auburn has a pretty good OL, but if this one guy can outscore our team, especially giving Auburn's lackluster defense, I'll say he deserves all the hype and praise he gets and them some.

I look at it this way. It's Cam Newton vs. our defense on one end. On the other end it's Ingram, Trent, Julio, Maze vs. Auburn's defense. Who can score more points? It all depends on our OL play. If our OL can play with a chip on their shoulder we will outscore Auburn. You know I really hate Auburn because they're just a bunch of clowns. They totally lucked out with Cam, they think they don't have to play defense to win big games now. We'll see.

The only way we stop him IMO is if we commit 7-8 men to the box the whole game, and even then I think he will get some yards. He is inflicting the most damage when he gets out in space and is matched up against smaller lb's and db's.
