Can Ingram repeat?

This site says it'll be a top story this season. Wouldn't surprise me but it did get me wondering: how possible is it for him to repeat? The only one to do it was also a running back. I feel like they have the best chance at repeating because a running back has more control over what he does on the field. Thoughts?

I absolutely think he can repeat. I was just looking at some highlights yesterday and this guy is the real deal. He'll flat run you over if you don't get out of the way, and he is a natural at picking the hole and exploding through it. You just can't teach this stuff, it's all God given talent. I love this runningback.

If he can keep the injury bug away, I say he'll be in the running again. And just think, TR is just as good, imo. Add Lacey to this mix, and man o man I'd hate to be a DC on opposing teams! Pick your poison!

I really don't think Mark gives a flip. He has the best and most team oriented attitude I've ever seen.

due to our schedule, bye weeks, etc. I fully expect to see a triple dose of RBs and fresh legs. IOW, I think a large part of our defense will be to try and keep the offense on the field, possibly. I think there will be a lot of carries to go around between all the backs, particularly the 'Big 3'.

I don't know if that'll work for him, or agin' him

Can he? Yes

Will he? No

I'm not saying he won't have a great year. He will. But TR will probably get a lot more touches this year and therefore reduce MI load. Plus, the heisman voters are very notorious for not voting a previous winner for the award. Regardless of what he does. The only way MI will have a chance to win the heisman again this year is if he puts up better numbers than last year (more yards, more TD's etc).

I'm thinking repeat will be even harder than the team award of a championship, but if anybody can do it, it's our guy Mark.

I agree with most of that. He can, but I don't think he will. Though I don't think TR will eat into MI's carries too much, the voters are very reluctant to vote for a previous winner. In order to overcome that, I think two things will have to happen:

1. MI will need to break the 2000/20 barriers
2. There will need to be no other realistically viable candidates. If there's debate, the guy who hasn't won it, will.

Does Mark have the talent to repeat? Absolutely Yes

Will He? 99.9% NO

The only way Mark even has a chance is if TR goes down and there is no sufficient back up. Well, we know the answer to that question.

Mark has his Heisman and he understands that a PRO RB only has so many carries. He will be content with splitting time with TR and EL.

Not to mention that this years O will probably move the ball through the air more.

Also, enough voters would not vote for Back to Back UA players for Heisman.

Archie Griffin is the only person with two heisman trophies. I don't think that will change after this season. Hmm...does that mean he gets two votes in the Heisman balloting every year? Just curious...

Wonder what kind of replies ill get when i say i think Trent is better than Mark...

i will give you equally as talented as now. How about TR wins the Heisman with Ingram as the supporting cast!!!!!!! I think Julio would be a great Heisman for Bama (i know stats don't support this), Lord knows he has been nothing but an unselfish team player. I honestly believe that great things are coming JJ way. What a fun dilemma to have:BigA:

Can he repeat? I dont think so. Does he have the ability? Heck ya! I just think with Trent demanding more carries and earning it, it will take the load off Ingram's shoulders and his stats will be down somewhat even though he easily goes for over 1,000 unless he gets hurt.

Most Heisman voters are going to want more production and I just dont see him topping last years stats.

I get sick of the "Eddie Lacy" is Trent and Ingram combined:eek::rolleyes:

He is good yes, but at this point he is not even close! Of course I'm not downing the kid, to say you're 3rd to Mark Ingram and Trent Richardson is pretty damn impressive:BigA:

An emphatic no, from me anyway. That is mostly being used by his detractors as a reason that he shouldn't have won last year. Mark is much more talented, rewatching tape of him you realize its easy to forget how often he was hit and refused to go down and just how much of his yardage was after contact. Trent is a great back but has yet to thrash an SEC D the way Ingram did against USCe. TR may very well be better one day, but not today and probably not tomorrow.

I agree with that. Trent may have more raw talent. But he's not nearly as developed and polished as MI right now. TR has more power and maybe a tad more speed. But being a good back is more than power and speed. MI has better balance, vision, patience and anticipation. He blocks better as well. As of last year, his hands were better also. Of course, TR made quite a showing catching out of the backfield in the spring.

It could be that TR will develop his raw talent and perhaps surpass MI. But he hasn't yet. I just don't buy the popular line that TR will detract from MI's carries this year significantly more than he did last year. TR's improving. But MI's still improving as well.

Trent is an outstanding talent and probable future first round draft choice.

But it's much easier coming in as a back up with fresh legs after the number one guy has worn the other team down a bit.

I'll just say that we're very fortunate to have both because I think they're the best two RB's in America.
