I'm hoping he can increase the allure of the University among the Swedish female population. A large influx of them pursuing an overseas education would definitely not be a bad thing :)

Can't see his effect being immediate but he looks one of the few players that legitimately have "potential."

Carl is the guy at the beginning of the Offspring Video.......from a few years ago. ;)

I also would like to know why when I link to a you tube video now, it shows up twice....... weird.

Would this guy be the first European player that has played basketball at The Capstone? I can't remember anyone from Europe since I've been following Bama b'ball beginning in '87. Thanks.

ASSUMING that CE's athleticism transfers to Basketball and he becomes a great shot blocker and thunderous dunker do you think he could become a fan favorite and become basketballs version of Mount Cody ??? (Not ready to get out the annointing oil yet)

His height will make up for the lack of basketball experience. Should rebound and alter shots very well. I really wonder if he will stand out and shoot the 3 like most tall players in Europe.

I doubt he has that shot. I saw another video of him and he shot a couple of short jumpers. Form wasn't bad, but you could tell he really hadn't played that much basketball, but being on the national junior handball team tells you that he's got hand-eye coordination...

A long armed seven footer can be a very effective last line of defense if he doesn't get in foul trouble. Even a small contribution like 4 blocks, 7 rebounds, and 6 points can be huge and make the difference between a win and a loss.

I've been following Bama b'ball since about the same period, and I can't remember us ever having a player listed at 7'0 or higher. Will he be the tallest player ever at UA? I remember Jeremy Hays and MC Mazique listed at 6'11 and maybe one or two more.

This could be BIG! (jk)

Seriously, you can teach them how to play basketball but no one can teach him how to be 7' 1"! :biggrin2:

Mark played against UCLA center Uwe Blab on national TV one night when UCLA was #1 in the country. And he shut him down.....and we upset them at Pauley.......if my memory is still intact.

It was Mark Farmer's 15 minutes........

Thank Ennis Whatley for that win. That was an emotional time for the Alabama family.

Shoot, for now at least, those were the glory years of Bama BB! Under Wimp we not only beat UCLA but Georgetown and North Carolina as well! We practically owned the SEC tournament and were in the mix for the SEC crown most every year.

I would sure like to see that happen again. :BigA:
