He suspended Spikes half a game for trying to permanently handicap another human being. Since Dunlap didn't actually hurt anyone or himself, what type of suspension does this carry? A quarter? The first snap?

Yah, no doubt.

Of course, this a far more serious matter, as the result could easily have been someone's death.

If nothing else, I hope Dunlap learns from this. Irresponsible acts like this often hurt / kill others...

Where is the part where it says he is OUT of the SECCG? Urban might suspend him for the coin toss.

Probably just the first half of the coin toss. He will be reinstated into the lineup when the coin begins its descent towards the ground. :biggrin:

Until I hear from CUM that Dunlap is out of the game, I will continue to believe that he will play. If he is willing to risk Tebow's life by letting him play against LSU when he was clearly not ready, a silly little thing like a DUI will not stand in his way...

Meyer suspended several players in the offseason, one of which was arrested for driving with a suspended license. Dustin Doe? I don't know his status today...

Florida Criminal Status: Any DUI violation resulting in property damage is a misdemeanor of the 1st degree. Any DUI violation resulting in serious bodily injury to another is a 3rd degree felony. Any DUI violation that results in the death of another is DUI manslaughter, resulting in either a 1st or 2nd degree felony, depending on the circumstances.

Carlos' was 2nd Degree. Did he hit someone? I'm sure we'll hear more in the next few hours.

Edit: Realized it was a 2nd Degree Misdemeanor, not a 2nd Degree Felony. According to this site., a 2nd Degree Misdeamor carries a 60 day jail term if convicted.

If it's his 1st offense he will not serve any jail time......he will have to pay his fines and go to DUI class.

It would hurt them some, but not as much as it would if he played at UT, LSU or Auburn. Florida has bolt-on depth on that defense, just like Bama does.

IMHO he is one of the best, if not the best, DE's in the country. Basically it makes Carpenter's day a lot easier and hurts their pass rush.

It would hurt them some, but not as much as it would if he played at UT, LSU or Auburn. Florida has bolt-on depth on that defense, just like Bama does.

Who will fill in? I'm sure their back up will be a stud but he wont be a Dunlap that's for sure.

It is hard to say. Some teams really respond to this sort of thing - rising up to replace their lost player. Others just aren't able to make it up.

He is their best edge pass rusher, and edge protection has been one of the weaknesses of this year's Bama team. Players like Geathers really hurt us this year. Without him, we should be able to give GMac more time to throw the ball...

Geathers is a beast, an absolute monster. You have to think what this kind of behavior will do to his NFL prospects as well.
