CNS's ability to coach/develop DB's, along with Smith's abundance of natural talent would equal a top 5 draft pick, IMO. Come on Mr. Smith, make the SMART choice!!! :coolgleamA:
Big Bama, with a moniker like yours, my guess is you played on the line. Well, I am short, and I played five years of safety. Saban is short too, you may have noticed, but the guy is right, Saban "hires" players that must make him feel like a midget. I like the small guys too, but when I think of going up against someone like Julio, I don't even want to think of a short guy out there. Did you notice this year how Marquis Maze had trouble (1) catching the ball, and (2) keeping the opposition from catching it if he didn't? And how Julio either caught it or knocked it down? Why was that? Of course -- it was a matter of heighth out there when the ball was in the air. The margin of error for a tall guy is much greater than for a short guy. The short guy either has to have the ball thrown right where he can get to it, or else he has to expend an extraordinary amount of energy. Thanks for taking up for us small guys anyhow. Here he goes again....
We would definately make room for this kid, make no doubt about it. If we would hold a spot for Wingo, and he is a long shot, then we would definately take a pledge from this guy. And stop it with the height stuff. Have you ever played CB or Saftey? Hips, acceleration, and athleticism are more important than height. Ever heard of Bob Sanders? 5'8.'' I guess those NFL scouts were stupid for giving him a shot. Arenas has made so many plays this year, again, 5'9.''
This guy is a stud and we need to hope he gives a real shot at his services.
The one who was probably the most hyped ever over at GA was fatboy Jasper Sanks out of Columbus . That was like 10 or more years back though . Dude was supposed to re-write the world but , he had chronic ankle problems .I guess right about the same time that Reshard Dudley, Kregg Lumpkin, Thomas Brown, and Caleb King do. And that's just the guys in the last six years!![]()
Isn't this a violation. People were all over USC two years ago with Reggie Bush possibly talking to Joe McKnight. There's seems to be no "possibly" with this one. I'm pretty sure Champ Bailey is considered a booster for Georiga. If Alabama can get in trouble for the whole Brandon Gibson thing, this should be a no brainer.Branden Smith gets phone call from Champ Bailey

I'm not making any accusations, I honestly don't know, but is this a violation?
Goodness it's been years since I thought of that name, but you nailed it...The one who was probably the most hyped ever over at GA was fatboy Jasper Sanks out of Columbus . That was like 10 or more years back though . Dude was supposed to re-write the world but , he had chronic ankle problems .
We lost the title game because we couldn't stop Tebow on 3rd downs, be it running or passing.I'm not saying we will sigh Brandon Smith, but I will say this, DB is Saban's position, Saban doesn't lose because he can't cover people, AND WE LOST THE SEC TITLE BECAUSE WE COULD'NT COVER PEOPLE. So I expect Saban to basically not sleep until he has this issue fixed.
That is true. The 2 TD passes were great throws and great catches. They were both caught off the shoe laces where the DB had no chance to break it up. Both passes were well covered. We lost the title game because we couldn't stop Tebow on 3rd downs, be it running or passing.
Everyone understands your Julio fascination but the discussion is about CBs and whether they can succeed if they are "short." This subject has been debated ad nausem on this board, and people have presented plenty of statistics showing the number of CBs in the NFL who are under 6 foot. There are tons of them! The recovery speed and good technique are much more important than those extra two inches. I mean Deshea Townsend has been cashing checks from the Steelers for about 30 years now and he is only 5'10"Big Bama, with a moniker like yours, my guess is you played on the line.
