CECIL HURT: Saban remains consistent in dealing with players

Like I've said before...... This and the last charges on the players did not involve drugs, DUI, theft, rape, assault or anything that could be a lot worse legally or punishment team wise. I'm sure Coach has some sort of good "learning experience" lined up. He likes to teach these guys to learn from mistakes not just rule with an iron fist. He's a cerebral disciplinarian. He's also building trust with the players.

Agreed I love the fact Saban reminded us all that coaches are teachers not just teachers of football but of life .

In that context, “make an example” means roughly, to use the memorable phrase from Pulp Fiction, to “go medieval” on the player, stopping not at mere suspension and humiliation but moving right on to thumbscrews and hot pokers.

Anytime you can work a Pulp Fiction ref into something then you're doing good.

Bravo Cecil! Finebomb should take note of what real journalism is !

Actually, Finebaum has. That's why Cecil's on his show at least once a week. Paul also commented recently that Cecil's the best sports writer in the state.

I say someone should buy Cecil a $5 milkshake for that column. :cool2:

I thought Finebaum was pro-Alabama. Guess not. It sounds like he'll bash Bammers and Barners both these days. He's saying that Saban isn't being strict enough and disciplining the players enough for all these arrests this summer. One caller yesterday was pretty hard on Saban saying he's not really "old school" like Bear was as far as discipline and so forth.

Do we have any facts to refute what Finebuam said. I have seen or heard nothing that would indicate to me that Saban is any more strict (at Bama)than the previous coach. I am saying he is not strict I am only saying I have yet to see anything that would prove it.

Pulling down his pants was the only thing I have heard about but I am not around there to know.

Any inside info..?

Finebaum was saying that Saban was supposed to be a big disciplinarian based on his reputation but so far he hasn't been much of one. He said he thought Saban was going to come to Alabama and "clean house" and get rid of all the bad apples and all that.

Why are the majority of your posts about what Finebaum has to say about a situation? If people want to know his opinion, they'll listen to his show. Do you have any ideas of your own?

PF may be looking at the wrong barrel of apples. Possibly Coach is rooting out the bad media and booster apples, and if necessary, I have NO doubt that he'll do the same to a player.

I thought that Finebaum was pro-Alabama. Is he a bad media radio host these days? He sure doesn't hesitate to criticize Saban. He might be criticizing Bama as much as Awburn this year it sounds like. Do you think Saban is going to try to root out Finebaum and get him taken off the air?

Just because Saban isn't telling everyone (fans, media, etc) what his discipline is, doesn't mean that it isn't fitting for the "crime". I think it is funny that people are criticizing something when they have no idea what is going on
