But, this right here is why this isn't a meaningless game.

Alabama could win a second straight national championship, but if it loses this week, it’ll have to hear a whole year of Auburn fans and their, “yeah … but.”

Alabama is entering such a brutal stretch though. Auburn is 18th in total defense, Florida is 5th, and the playoff could feature some elite defenses to (notably Michigan at #1 and Ohio State at #4).

To provide some contrast, Alabama has played a tough schedule and some good teams, but they've only played the #11 and #27 defense thus far. Their offense has a lot of work ahead of them.

No one questions Alabama's schedule to date, but I think that we are going to learn a lot more about Alabama's offense in the next 2 games. SEC defenses that Alabama has faced so far have been pretty sad, with LSU as the lone exception. We really don't know how good your offense is right now.

I could list the SoS from Sagarin, but that wouldn't answer the real question - because defensive stats are built on the level of offensive talent that they have faced, which defensive stats are the most impressive? IMO, that puts Alabama on top because Alabama faces a number of very impressive offensive teams before they crumbled. Ole Miss, Arkansas, Tennessee, aTm & MSU all have very good offenses, and Alabama's stats incorporate those games. While Auburn played most of those same teams, they played Arkansas and Ole Miss after they had imploded, and they did not play TN.

As for my Buckeyes - we drubbed a very good Sooner offense. The rest of our games were against pedestrian offenses. Same can be said for Michigan with Colorado the exception.

Florida's SoS is just sad. Their stats are based on nothing. We will learn a lot more about them when we watch them play FSU this weekend.

So, what I was thinking is the same on what you were. When it comes to UF and UM schedules play a part in their defense.

while auburn has heir own problem with qb. it troubles me that teams have begun to realize that stopping the screens to our receivers, will leave Jalen exposed with those same defenses covering outside can keep Jalen inside the tackles. Jalen as a freshman still has a lot to learn to find open receivers, get rid of the ball early enough. when he puts air under his passes, he is more successful. we have probably as good a group of receivers in the country, but, they are able to show that this year. auburns defense will take away some running room, and put pressure on Jalen. our defense will need to stay tough and stop their run game. I don't think their qbs can hurt us. they do have the best kicker of field goals and hopefully it will not be the key. what game this will be.
