Memorial Stadium will be off the rails, everyone will be fired up, and then ...

Alabama will go on a razor-sharp opening drive to take a 7-0 lead, and then it'll be just as crisp on the second drive. But just as it looks like it's going to be the Alabama we all know, the OU defense will stiffen, limit the damage to a field goal, and then it'll be on.

Mateer will look and play with a bit more pop. There won't be much of a ground game, but the Sooner defense will hold firm over the rest of the second half as the score starts to even up.

Oklahoma will win the second half field position battle, with one big pass play breaking through to finally take over the momentum. The Sooner pass rush will handle the rest.

Alabama vs Oklahoma Prediction: CFP First Round Preview

I will NOT take it!

Here is what I predict: Venables knows Ty is seriously hurt and limited in what he can do. He will blitz every play, get Ty off his spot, hit him every time he can. Ty won't be able to make them pay reliably enough. Ty will limp through the game, not playing well enough to win, but not getting carted off the field either. Coach DeBoer will refuse to pull him out of loyalty to his QB.
Bama will play from behind the entire game, getting a TD with less than two minutes to play, but not able to make the onside kick work.

I hope you are very wrong about this @Tidewater, but it does look a lot like what happened vs. Georgia in the SEC Championship game.

if Ty is hurt and limited, I expect DeBoer to not hesitate one bit by having Mack and Russell ready to jump in if need be. he had 2 weeks to prepare the back ups, NO EXCUSES!!!!!!!!!!!

The same thing was going on in the SECCG and Coach DeBoer did not pull Ty and the team got spanked. I do not expect he will pull him in this game either.

Yeah, I hope I'm wrong as well. Ty is a very talented QB and seems like a good young man.
Maybe Coach DeBoer knows more about managing a QB's psyche than I do. Maybe.
Seriously, he talks with the young men daily. Has coached his way to the playoffs and knows what benching your starting QB will do to him. You may never get him back mentally and if Ty has told him he's coming back for next year and benching him in the OU game will crush his self-confidence, maybe you ride him to victory or defeat regardless.
The second string QB is always the most popular man on campus.

You’re probably right, but there is even less reason in this game not to pull him for the second half if things are looking grim. As Jess mentioned in his SECCG write up, we’re past the point of worrying about hurt feelings, but at least in that game we had a slot in the playoffs to be concerned about. From here on out it’s win or go home.

If he’s hurt then it seems to me that it would be better for his NFL fortunes to bench him and just announce that he’s injured. Wouldn’t that be better than having the scouts think he’s this bad for no reason?

Ty, as I see it, is our best option if he's 75-80% ready. But if he's having the same sorta play as the last meeting and it's obvious the result is likely to be the same then by all means PULL HIM no matter how much he wants to stay in and carry the offense. Like you, I wanna see our coach make the hard calls and live with the outcome. That's what he's paid so highly to do!

I agree, but my next game as a head coach will be my first, so what do I know?

He said in the conference yesterday that the first 3 days last week were finals and the team only healed, did meetings and lifted. "Practice" didn't start till Thursday.

The proof of the pudding, they say, is in the eating. If Ty is getting the job done, great. If his play is so far below his own standard that he is jeopardizing the win, then Coach DeBoer has a decision to make.
