Player Who Matters

Is it possible for Alabama’s Derrick Henry to get into the Heisman chase? It’s Leonard Fournette’s world and everyone is living in it, but Henry showed off against Texas A&M that he’s every bit as strong and every bit as effective – almost. He ran for 236 yards and two scores in the win over the Aggies, but last year he only ran for 78 yards and a score against the Vols. Kenyan Drake is supposed to be back and fine after getting hit in the leg last week, but the ground game still falls on Henry.

What’s Going To Happen?

Tennessee will come out balling. Joshua Dobbs will get hot early and make the Crimson Tide press, but like a steady drip, Henry and the running game will be effective enough to take control as the game goes on. The Vol offense will hit a wall in the second half.

I think we pull away within 2nd quarter. We don't play well at home, so that's going to be focus of the message.. start strong and finish strong. Better execution and focus at home.

Tenn will make some plays on offense. I think the analysis was pretty good and think we do pull away in the 2nd half.

Agreed. The first half should be very competitive. Hurd and Dobbs will get their yards on the ground, but I don't see their OL doing much for them in pass protection. Robinson and Allen will be in the backfield most of the day, and Reggie and the LBs will be able to keep them running East/West. In the second half our depth will really show on offense, as their DL and LBs are very depleted by injury. If we don't cover, we'll be awfully close.

As long as we don't turn the ball over early, Tennessee won't get anything going on offense. It takes us fumbling the ball away in our own territory for the opposing offense to get anything on our defense.

That's the key. Will our special teams be on point (just fair catch punts and take a knee if the kick is in the end zone)? Will we maintain possession on offense and end every possession in a kick (preferably extra points)?

That's the only way a team like Tennessee stands a chance. We'll have to give it to them.

Wisconsin, Ole Miss, Georgia, Arkansas, Texas A&M - none of those teams could run on Alabama so why would Tennessee be able to? I expect Tennessee to put up a little bit of a fight but it's not going to be by running the ball..

I don't expect hurd and kamara to run against bama. it fall on dobbs to create offensive opportunities. he potentially can be a good two way qb, rush and pass.

I am mainly worried about distractions and injuries. There is no rational reason to predict a loss to Tennessee, but after the Tenpenny death, and with Ryan Kelly hurt, the team might be sluggish. RIP, Altee.

Maybe the team could add a little emotion by dedicating this game to the memory of AT. Can it hurt?

Roll Tide!

Can you tell me where they are going to get those yards. Maybe Dobbs on scrambles, but that's it. Tennessee isn't a running football team by any measure no matter how good Hurd is.

I am convinced now that he is checking my pick before writing these previews. This was the fourth straight week that his pick was essentially the same as mine.

Against UGA I had it 31-24 and Fiutak had it 31-17. Arkansas I had it 34-17 and he had it 37-17. aTm I picked it 27-23 and he had it 27-20. ut I had it 34-17 and he picks it 34-20!
