Chris Matthews: The Tingle Has Subsided

Dadgummit - I missed it!

President Obama "obviously likes giving speeches more than he does running the executive branch," Chris Matthews said tonight.

Yes, you read that right: The MSNBC host who in 2008 felt a "thrill going up my leg" after hearing Obama speak has grown disenchanted. Tonight's episode of Hardball saw Matthews delivering a rare, unforgiving grilling of the president as severe as anything that might appear on Fox News.

"So what part does he like? He likes going on the road, campaigning, visiting businesses like he does every couple days somewhere in Ohio or somewhere," Matthews continued. "But what part does he like? He doesn't like lobbying for the bills he cares about. He doesn't like selling to the press. He doesn't like giving orders or giving somebody the power to give orders. He doesn't seem to like being an executive.”

Saw your favorite Rachel Madcow on the tube last night. She was giving Obama down the road about the AP phone records. Chris Mathews is too strident for my taste.
You still get a tingle when you see Rachel?

They've got this new one who's better than Rachel - his name is Chris Hayes. He's more feminine than Rachel - but that's not saying much. :) I think they brought him in to replace the grumpy Ed Schultz. That place is a non-stop carnival.

I can't help but wonder if the whole AP thing has turned the media tide against him. They may have stepped in it big-time with that one.
I believe that's absolutely the case. There has been a continual stream of howling from federal arm-twisting for some time now. Only after the press became disillusioned, though, did these low-level stories become front-page headlines.

There will be no shortage of stories for ammunition. There is at issue only how many pounds of flesh AP wants.

Told a lady in the office the same thing this morning. I think you're right and once the media is against you then you better put your Iron Man suit on because it's about to get down right ugly.

Chris Matthews. Racist! I can't believe it. He seemed so perfectly liberal and correct in everything. Sorry for that redundancy.

Jon Stewart has absolutely DESTROYED Obama in a couple of segments lately - I can't link as they have some bleeped language, but JS has turned the corner on Obama. He's always been an equal-opportunity humorist-attacker, but I've never seen him go after Obama like this. Punchline or not, I'm really starting to believe the press / media in general is REALLY ticked about the AP thing, and now the claws are coming out.

JS is an equal-opportunity attacker - he goes where the story is and I really love watching him, but I've never seen him go after Obama like this...

It will pass, this anger at The One.
Once the lick-spittle media realize they are doing any serious damage, they will back off and the slobbering love affair will begin anew.

You know how it is. You get the tingling, satisfy it, then just feel like turning over and sleeping. It will return.
Correct.

The media is ticked. It's fine for the Obama administration to go after conservatives in every way possible. These conservatives are, afterall, evil. But when he uses these tactics against the press... well, wait a minute buster. But, Obama will blow a few kisses their way, they will back off soon enough and all will be forgiven. He will remind them that the mutual enemy is conservatism, and they'll both get back on task.

I just hope that it causes the press to start doing their jobs.

We need to get people upset over at least the following:
The targeting of US Citizens without a trial by drones.
The warrantless wiretapping from the Patriot act and other acts that have been snuck in during Obama's term.
Holder thinking he is the greatest AG since sliced bread. This guy has got to go.
Obama quite possibly being the worst negotiator ever when it comes to getting bills passed.

I've seen a drastic and noticeable decline on FB of pictures of Obama and Moo-Shell in romantic moments with all the comments of "What a classy family". I've got a lot of FB friends from HS who love the Obama's. But since all of the recent events I don't see any of these "classy" picture post anymore. I wonder what happened?
