CKD on the Difficulty of the Current Four-Game Stretch

  • Hi Guest, we are working on updating the site servers and software. We're also 'forcing' everyone to read and agree to our site privacy policy and terms of service. There are no significant changes to either of these but the terms page does clarify a few things that are mostly in the legalese. You can just click the checkbox for both and continue using the site as usual! We'll update you more on the site upgrades VERY soon! THANK YOU AS ALWAYS for supporting the site and being an active participant!

From the article on SI.com (something sounds familiar here 😁):

"Back in the spring, when the schedule comes out and you're like, ‘OK, that's gonna be a grind,’" Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer said. "But you don't even look at it that way. You look at one game, and you focus on that one game. And that's what we did against Georgia. And that's what we did against Vanderbilt. And now that's what we gotta do against Missouri. You focus on only that game. And when you do it, all of a sudden you find yourself going through the month and you're like, ‘OK, we've gotten better.’ And, ‘OK, we got the win.’ And again, just focus on the process, focusing on what it has to look like as we refine everything we're doing. Just competing at the highest level, where you just focus on those things that you can control. The schedule, you work through it one by one. And you end up, usually, if you've got the talent and you've got the people and you catch a break here and there, you end up on the right side of it.”

but but he’s not Nick Saban and must be fired immediately because he doesn’t look like Nick, sound like Nick, listen to Nick’s music, dress like Nick, do press conferences like Nick, doesn’t fly off the handle like Nick, doesn’t wear a straw hat like Nick.

Don't forget that he doesn't eat little debbie oatmeal cream pies and being a west coast guy. he probably eats kale and likes it.

People said the same thing after Coach Bryant retired. They wanted a coach who looked like Bear, acted like Bear, and talked like Bear. That's why Coach Stallings was so quickly accepted.
That, and the fact that he won ballgames. Love Coach Stallings man and he was just what we needed when we needed him. Of all the famous quotes he authored the one that always rings in my ear, "if you don't think Vanderbilt is a big game, try losing it." Wise words indeed.

I think everyone should be a great deal more copacetic about DeBoer at this point. I really don't think the coaches were the primary issue at FSU, I think the players just needed a swift kick in the rear to get them focused.

We have plenty of things to work on, but if they can keep rolling like we are then I think we have a solid staff and a solid roster and can hopefully make the playoffs and make some noise at the end of the year.

But ultimately the players actions is the responsibility of the coaches. I think tbe coaches needed the public scathing to push them to the next level of coaching ability. This ain't the Pac 12 or the Sunbelt. Its the SEC. There are no weeks off.

Don’t care what anyone says, the SEC is just different. USCe is about to face five teams ranked in the top 11…in five straight weeks…
Exactly. I know we like to focus on the Alabama schedule, but every SEC team is in the same boat. No way a team goes undefeated in conference play, and a very low chance there is more than one one loss team in conference play.
