Standing before some of LSU's most committed fans Wednesday evening Tigers' Coach Les Miles declared Alabama the Tigers' top rival. Such a declaration has been brewing since Alabama chose former LSU coach Nick Saban as its top man, an announcement that riled the Tigers faithful. Miles has remained low key, almost nonchalant, about that hire, but Wednesday, simmering over vague allegations of Crimson Tide recruiting "irregularities," he let loose.

Did anyone else

notice the phrase "vague allegations of Crimson Tide recruiting 'irregularities,'"? The allegations were that Saban had "negatively recruited" by touting his staff as better than Miles'. Conveniently forgotten by Miles and SI both was that Miles negatively recruited McKnight by bringing to the Reggie Bush mess.

Bite me, SI.

I'm afraid CLM (and others) are going to have to face some harsh realities as the pecking order of the SEC begins to correct itself. This decade-plus anomaly that all these coaches (Miles, Tubbs, Nutt, Phat Phil) have survived under is about to vanish, and Bama will be right back on top, where we've been more often than not.

Just think through the coaches in this conference and ask yourself this question: "How many of these guys would still be around if Bama had been turmoil-free for the past 10 years?"

I'm like Earle: it feels good to be hated again. Who cares if LSU thinks we're their biggest rival? We're gonna soon be EVERYONE'S biggest rival (just like before), and the other schools' coaches will be hired and fired based on their ability to beat us.

I don't want to hear anything about recruiting irregularities. How is recruiting negatively an irregularity? I was under the impression that almost all coaches do that. Irregularities seems to imply something far more sinister as in "we'll be reporting you to the SEC and NCAA for this". So what's up?

My thoughts on Les Miles.

Get out of Mobile Les. You only took 11 from the state of Louisiana so stop your whining.

Me thinks losing Luther Davis stung more than Lesi cares to admit. I guess now, Lesi, Tubbs, and Chunky P will start swapping Valentines cards.

Not just Miles but the entire LSU fanbase. "Luther Davis is a headcase who won't qualify" is the standard line from many LSU fans.

Throw in the fact that they lost McKnight out of their own backyard and they are in a bit of turmoil despite having a top 5 class.

Here is an article that gives more detail about it...

http://www.shreveporttimes.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070208/SPORTS0202/702080333/1028

"I think that whatever was used against our staff obviously didn't work," Miles said of his class that was ranked No. 2 by Scout.com. "And so I would hope that they would continue to negative recruit because the recruiting that was done this year for the LSU Tigers was very capable. I would take a second-ranked class in the country for some time.

"Here's what happens, anybody that negative recruits, the student-athlete that hears that has to qualify what's being said. And if that is without basis and without what would be a logical framework by which to communicate with that student-athlete, it immediately discredits them. So I can tell you that there was some negative recruiting going on out there."
The ironic thing about this is that he tries and make it seem like he was taking the high ground, but his statement in itself is negative.

"The breaking of rules was much more rampant this year," Miles said, referring obliquely to "negative recruiting." He did not name any specific coach or school...
"We're still reviewing the situation and tying up loose ends," he said. "But if we find there were some irregularities, they will be turned in."
Here's the original article.

What a jackbutt. It's ok for him to recruit and sign players from Alabama, but not ok for CNS to recruit and sign players from Lousiana? That doesn't make any sense at all. Nice try Les.

I for one ain't gonna lose sleep over lesters comments. It is a well known fact in B.R. that after every game he was reporting all the referees for irregularities. He is a wind bag who ought to learn when to shut up!:mad2:

Here's a thought. If you have anything substantial to report regarding irregularites, do so. Otherwise, shut your pie hole!

If Les is goint to "report irregularities" then he better start dialing the NCAA hotline now, cuz im pretty sure Fat Phil (a.k.a. Biscuit, Biggun, Lucifer, Beelzebub, Hog Head, Krispy Kreme, etc.) will have the lines tied up. I hear UThug now has speed-dial.:BigA:
