If Muschamp leaves Texas, someone will pay a fine. I don't remember who exactly will, but somebody does. Since he is the head coach in waiting (how long is he going to wait?), Texas has some protection from him leaving in the form of a fine of some sort.

I've seen no indication that Mack Brown is anywhere near wanting to go into retirement. Thus, I think the jury is still out on whether WM ultimately remains in Austin.

As for Nick going back to the pros, I don't see it happening but there IS precedent for this kind of thing happening. Ray Perkins had the Giants doing pretty good when he left them after the '82 season , and we all know the rest of his story and what he did--he left us to go back.

I think we've set Nick up contractually where he simply would be leaving a boat load of money on the table if he ever chose to leave, and an amount of power and influence over a program that cannot be duplicated--anywhere. The man basically has a lifetime contract if he wants it. Add to that I think his wife and family really like it here, and all arrows point to him remaining here for quite some time, IMO.

I've been watching the All Access specials on ESPN this week and realize instantly why Saban didn't like the NFL. You can tell from his tone, actions and words that he truly loves TEACHING football skills to young men and has a very specific way he wants things done.

In the NFL, it's more about managing and game planning than TEACHING. There's some skills and techniques taught but if you watch behind-the-scenes reviews of NFL camps it's more about qualifying and weeding out players than teaching and growing.

I could also see some Pro Bowl db not wanting to pay attention to which foot leads off in which coverage method or putting additional focus into swinging his hips through a block the way Saban wants it to happen.

I've always questioned if he would leave.... and after watching those specials I don't see him leaving for the NFL... and I can't see any college program giving him more than what Alabama would to stay.

I don't think the Saban and Meyer comments were meant to be taken seriously. I think it was more of a statement of how tough it will be for UT to make it back to the upper echelon of the SEC. Meyer would have to retire (not likely) and Saban would have to return to the NFL (not likely).

You guys are already paying Saban an NFL salary...why would he want to go back to the primadonnas in the NFL...unless it was an ego thing
