I want to see Bama play and beat A&M while Fran is still there. Perhaps in a bowl game this year?
I understand you wanting to play them. But I wouldn't want to play them in a bowl game because I want UA to play in a major bowl game and that would mean Fran would have to have a good season to play us. I never want him to go to a major bowl game or any bowl game as far as I am concerned.

With that being said if A&M did earn a bowl game and we did not go to a major bowl game then I guess it would be pretty cool to play A&M.

Can I get any more wishy-washy!?!

You could throw in the fact that we'd have to wear purple socks and white shoes with black numbers on them :) :)

looks to me that more and more people are holding the rope - the one tightening the noose around Fran' neck. Some "dream job".

Maybe manteets will get fired from aTm after this season and end up back where he started with the Pittsburgh State Gorillas. That should make him realize what a mistake he made in leaving the Bama job.

With that said I'm glad he left since we now have Saban.

Manteet's tenure at Ta&m is "Disappointing". Couldn't happen to a more deserving guy.http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2007/writers/stewart_mandel/07/10/mailbag/1.html

Agree. We live in San Antonio and the TX papers aren't happy with him either. When Fran was lieing his way out of Tuscaloosa it was clear that he would not be back. Apparently the agreement with TA&M was already in concrete. A&M violated the rules by talking with him without Bama's ok. What upset us was the way he left. I don't have a problem with him leaving Bama--everyone must do what they consider to be their best interests. I was furious that he lied and did not have the character or guts to come back to tell his players, asking an assistant coach to talk to the team. As it turned out it was best for Bama in the long run--he is going to fail at A&M-- and he needs a good slap in the face. He's smart and used Bama to step up. Now he must pay the price.

I watched Fran as he moved up to progressively larger schools and quickly turned programs around. In fact, I sent Mal Mooore and e-mail suggesting that he look at Fran as he searched for a new coach. I do not claim that the e-mail had anything to do with his being hired--it probably never got to him--and I expect that Fran's name was given to him as he asked for the names of potential candidates. I must admit, however, that I was high on Fran at that point in time.

Hopefully Bama's ills are behind us for good. Much of our troubles were our own fault due to poor management decisions and failure to objectively evaluate our athletic programs and facilities. No doubt we still have some folks in positions of authority who need to step down. They aren't able to see the forest for the trees.

The NCAA's punishment was unfair, however. They were not truthful when they announced the punishment--remember the "looking down the barrel of the death penalty". That was proven to be a lie. At least the University's attorneys were able to make the NCAA admit that the death penalty was never on the table. And I was happy to see the faculty adviser get a million dollar out of court settlement from the NCAA.

Our defense of the charges was too little too late--again poor management. Having an aggressive law firm leading the way early on probably could have kept us from taking the beating we took from them--and some of the humiliation we suffered in the media.

Looks like the Bama Nation is excited about the coming season. We here in SA are getting too old to travel to games but we have a very large LCD flat screen to watch the games this year and we look forward to seeing them play and the improvements which should be obvious with the outstanding coaching staff we have in place. We don't have illusions of a winning the SEC this year and the real indicator of Saban's future progress will come next Feb on signing day. I believe he will be in the top five this year and begin to bring in the level of talent required to win the NC in the next four years.

Let's pray--very hard.

I am sick of losing. We have three sons--UT Austin, and Illinois--who are die hard Bama fans and follow Bama 365 days a year. They will be in Tuscaloosa opening day. We will be there in spirit.

not that i'm a big houston nutt fan, but why is he on the list? it's not like arkansas gets top recruiting classes every year and he is fairly consistent at putting quality, competitive teams on the field. hasn't he taken the hogs to the sec title game at least twice?

True, but then I have these scars from deep 'rope burn' and each time I notice them I remember 77-0 and do a little jig. Let's see: That ole' Pirate at Texas Tech owns Fran and that Baptist Bear makes his life miserable. Uh, I don't think Fran bashing will ever get old for me.

You know, I guess at this time what burns me up the most about the way Fran left Bama is that he did not get called a liar or in any way, shape or form take any heat from the media whatsoever for his blatent lies and so on. CNS has been raked over the coals when he had originally tried to get the media to not discuss it. Did the media respect his wishes? of course not.

When Fran left Bama all of the sports media made a big deal about how good of a decision it was and he'd have aTm turned around in no time. HAHAHA the laugh is on them all again. :p:p

I'm gonna get burned for saying this, but seriously, get over it already.

I'm not at all agreeing with what Fran did. What he did was wrong. But I really don't think that even if he had stayed that things would've changed that much with the football team. We would've been in probation no matter what, so it ain't as if Fran made probation worse. He just chose to run away and not deal with the tough times, that's his choice (albeit, a very un-professional choice).

Now we're out of probation and we have Nick Saban as our coach. Fran is still struggling to prove his worth in College Station, with two winning seasons (and two blowout bowl losses) in four seasons. Karma followed him to TAMU. So get over it already and focus on what we can do to help our football team do better.
