Yes but they caught lightning in a bottle. We won't see South Carolina do that again ever, and I'd bet Auburn won't either.I like CNO just once can we at least get to a Final 4 if Auburn and South Carolina can why not us. last night I noticed SDSU HC to me looks like a snake in the grass GO Creighton.
If CNO needs to make any adjustments, it's figuring out ways for his teams to not fade in February/March. Some of this is just natural - you are going to wear down physically as you get deeper into the season, and your opponents are going to get better at stopping you as more film is available to watch.
So it's not like I know what, if anything at all, needs to be "fixed." It's just an observation that we seem to start out the first half of the season on fire, we're unstoppable, and we are beating everyone by 15, 20 points. Then as we get into the conference schedule, things tighten up and games become slogs. That's been the constant of the Nate Oats era. And again, some of that is just the way it is for every team.
We can't go 3/27 from 3 point and win in the tournament, especially at this stage. And I'm getting into a rant now, so forgive me, but when we went up 48-39 and then due to two bone-headed lazy passes by Miller it's quickly 48-44, that's not refs. That's not a flaw in CNO's system. That's losing focus at the worst possible time. We could have buried them at that point, and even JQ said when we got up 9, it was like we took our foot off the gas. You cannot do that in the tournament ever.
So, we will learn more lessons. Coach Oats will continue to grow. I mean wow. This was just his 4th season with Alabama and the 1st one got cut off halfway due to Covid. If Alabama did not have its Sweet 16 history, we would be on cloud 9 right now looking ahead to even greater things.
