Folks,

What an era of football for our Crimson Tide. Congratulations to Mr. Derrick Henry for his winning the stif-arm trophy. Also huge kudos to the rest of the team and coaches for preparing him and helping him reach one of his dreams. It really got me to thinking about the program's accomplishments since 2007.

Rivalry records
vs. Tenn - 9-0
vs. LSU - 7-3
vs. AU 6-3

Conference Championships - 4

National Championships - 3

Playoff Appearances - 2

Heisman - 5 Finalists in 7 years

Heisman Winners - 2

This season's not even done yet. Amazing to consider how much Coach Saban and this program has done in less than a decade. It's really a golden era of Bama football. Roll Tide, y'all. Now, let's finish this season with two more victories!

And to the notion 'What can one man do?' Saban is the best example of what one man can do.

I always grew up with my parents telling me what a great time the 70's were for Alabama football. Then, we suffered through our dark years in the early 2000's, and I thought about how lucky they were. I wasn't sure if I would ever have any fond memories of my own.
Then, Nick arrived in 2007 and things have been so fun ever since. I love the fact that I will be able to tell my future children that I got to live through one of the best eras of Crimson Tide football!! Thanks to Nick and all of the players!!

Like so many others have suggested and many others need to realize (those that criticize), Coach Saban is the best investment the University of Alabama has ever made. They could double his $7-million salary and we'd still be reaping huge rewards.

You should probably list all of the other national awards that Alabama players have won, too. Before Saban you had gone years without winning any.

Yes, this definitely isn't an all-inclusive list. Just off the top of my head type stuff. You're correct between the Maxwell Awards (A.J, Derrick), Doak Walker (Richardson, Derrick), Biletnikoff (Cooper), Walter Camp (Henry), Butkus Award (McClain, Mosley), Outland (Barrett Jones), Remington (Barrett Jones). I'm sure I've missed a few, so you guys refresh my memory.... This doesn't include all the academic All-Americans we've had.

Also, a lot of credit should be given to all the assistant coaches, too. Burton Burns (RB coach), for example, has been absolutely critical to our success.

Y'all are forgetting yet another accomplishment (collectively)

PROGRAMS DESTROYED OR SEVERELY DAMAGED
Tennessee - four coaches in six years, 0 wins
Georgia - fired their coach because he wasn't Saban
LSU - has never recovered from the 2012 BCSNCG beatdown and nearly fired their coach because he isn't Saban
Texas - absolutely destroyed the program
Auburn - three coaches in six years - only their 2010 title/Heisman keeps this from being a total wipeout
Texas A/M - after an upset win the first year, has given up 143 points in 3 games, including four pick sixes against three different QBs
Florida - gave a legendary coach the heart attack that forced him into temporary retirement, ended a dynasty, and have routed the Gators in every game since 2009 (yeah, they won the East but look how weak it is)

That's why I've said before - "Alabama - it's not just a loss, it's the end of your program."

(I know some of this is cherry picking to maintain the narrative (most notably ATM), but indulge me on this one).

The only two programs I can think of that have really prospered despite this that we massacred are Mississippi State (and that might be due to one spectacular player) and Michigan State (the Capitol One Bowl is an anomaly).

Don't forget embarrassing Notre Dame so bad Musberger announced the game over in the 2nd quarter.

The only area in which Alabama just can't seem to win - defensive player awards. I just don't get it.

I was completely surprised by this. However, hopefully, it will light a little added fire under us for the playoff games. I don't think we need any more fire, but it's almost a slap in the face to the guys on that side of the ball. Between our DLINE, Ragland, and those dudes on the back end, I figured somebody would have walked away with some kind of hardware.

Oh well, onto the playoffs. With a bunch of hungry, rested, first-round and early-round NFL draft picks eager to make a statement.

Don't forget that Ryan Kelly won the Rimington this year!

That may be because we have a collective defense that shares the responsibility and a ton of depth. Hard to run up individual colossal numbers.

That's my theory anyway. Seriously - of the starting 11 in 2011, who was the best defensive player? I'm not sure I know for certain.
