I could have sworn he said he would stepping down after getting blown out by JMU. Oh well maybe I imagined it?
Asked directly whether it was his intention to return, Brown said, "Yes."

North Carolina heads into its rivalry game against the Wolfpack at 6-5, off a noncompetitive 41-21 loss to Boston College. The season has been a roller coaster, to say the least. After a 70-50 loss to James Madison on Sept. 21, Brown told his Tar Heels he would walk away if the team felt he could no longer do the job.

Mack Brown is a good coach (not great) who caught lightning in a bottle with Vince Young.

I really have no strong feelings about him one way or the other.

I hope he has a long and enjoyable retirement.

That's the standard answer for the sake of recruiting, regardless of what you are planning to do...

Crazy how he leads them to a moderate amount of success, and now they suddenly have an inflated view of their program. They should be thrilled to win 6 games. This isn't basketball.
Yes.

I think a bunch of mid-level to low-level programs spend lots of money and add to the futility by not sticking to a solid coach who, given the resources, will do better with a stable 10-12 year run or longer than with a new coach every 3 years. If you look at some of the longer tenures where schools were patient, they get good seasons and bad seasons, but mostly bad with short termers. Plus, if you are one of those schools and you bottle lightning with a good coach, he is gone in 2-4 years anyway.

Word was that he was going to retire, so yeah.
I think the Gusbus was already gassed up and ready to leave UCF. Now he goes to Florida State as the OC, and official play caller. So he still gets to coach without being on the hot seat. But unless FSU gets better quick, Gus may be out the door with Norvell - or he will be named interim HC when Norvell leaves.

My first thought was that they are planning to replace Norvell with him asap.
