As more and more dollars build in the playoff “kitty”, the expectation of building a program over 4 or 5 years or more is out the window. With NIL and unrestricted player free agency you better hit the ground winning or they will find someone they believe can.

Seems like a likely choice to target Beamer for VT. South Carolina had very high expectations this season, which Vanderbilt dismantled on Saturday. That was ugly. Worse, we play Vanderbilt, a now top-25 team, and while we should have revenge on our mind, they are proving to be a tough customer for opponents this season. I don't believe they are top level college football, but they are someone else in the SEC, already loaded top to bottom, that you can't just assume an automatic "W" against.

Makes me wonder if the idea of coaching "consultant" that Saban built and perfected is still on the table. All the money available to a program now seems to be earmarked for NIL and roster management, instead of anyone on the staff other than HC/OC/DC.

While the portal opens for players at Va Tech and UCLA and they are allowed to transfer, they are not eligible to play this season. Since we are under the maximum of games played to take a a redshirt (up to four games), the player can transfer immediately (assuming they meet enrollment requirements at the new school) and use this season as a RS year.
