Coaching carousel 2025-26

From what I’m hearing… Sumrall is out on Auburn and the expectation is Durkin will be the next coach barring a blowout
There's no question Durkin would get the gig if they pull off an IB upset tonight, but he's probably getting it anyway because it doesn't appear anyone want the barnyard job.

Who could blame them??? 😁

Golesh is reported to be going to Arkansas.

He'd be a solid hire for Florida, otherwise.
@Bazza, I hate to say it, but I think Florida will be sorry they didn't hire Golesh. What he's done at USF is impressive with the bigger schools down there competing for the top talent!

I think Arkansas has one the coach hiring race so far.

As for Lane, I hope he stays at OM. I think I'd respect him more if he did than chasing LSU's money.

Who said DeBoer will tell him he needs to go?

I haven't heard one person propose that.

The decision is Ty's and only Ty's. If he gets the grade he wants/needs to be a round one draft choice, I suppose he goes and takes the "bird in the hand." But if he chooses to come back regardless, it's his decision.

We aren't running off Ty to keep Russell or Mack.

The question is if Ty goes pro, what happens? What's best?
From the limited opportunities vs Eastern Illinois, if Ty leaves, Austin Mack is the better prospect for starter at this juncture. Who knows with another offseason and spring ball.

I admit that Mack looks like he's grown (no pun intended) into a much more reliable possibility. My biggest concern with him is his mobility in/out of the pocket. He had a good scramble TD against EIU, but their defense was pretty bad...especially against our backups in the second half.

Russell, however, may have the higher ceiling. I admit I'm a little smitten by his potential. I think he's a Tua/Mac/Bryce type of potential.

But, if Ty goes pro, the best-case scenario is for both of them to return and grind it out for the '26 season starter.

If Ty returns, he's the starter next year, barring major issues/injuries, but if he returns, I think we'll lose either Mack or Russell and possibly both.

I am very, very excited about our QB recruiting, though. We have some studs lined up in the QB recruiting cycle!!!

How much money does LSU have and can they really afford Kiffin? They have to pay BK 54 mil, Kiffin is going to be north of 15 mil a year. Plus NIL cost. The governor is going to impose a massive corn dog tax to pay for all that

I’m happy Kiffin finally matured. In a mere 9 years he went from a “towel snapping self absorbed 17 year old” to a 50 year old doing hot yoga every morning. And I will always believe he would have crawled from Oxford to Tuscaloosa two years ago for the Alabama job.

Sometimes it’s important to remember “the face you slap today might very well be attached to the fanny you need to kiss tomorrow”.
There is nothing Kiffin could do, including offering up his firstborn, to overcome the resistance to his hiring. What he allegedly did was the kind of wickedness that almost no man would forgive.

Aside from that he’s not the kind of person that Alabama has ever knowingly hired: immature, with absolutely no discretion. Yes, I’m aware of DuBose & Price.

My “happy that Kiffin had matured” was more sarcastic and tongue in cheek than genuine.

I’m so over Lane at this point after this Side Show Circus.

Even if he stays at OM I’ve lost any and all respect for him which was only based on me thinking he had grown up.

He has an 11-1 team on the cusp of a high CFBP seed and I mean who knows he could win or could have won a NC right where he’s at.

But no he’s always looking to throw away what he has to go after something he thinks he wants and thinks is maybe better.

He’s never going to grow up.
