Coaching carousel 2025-26

Much of the speculation around CKD in addition to what @graydogg85 posted above is also the fact that there was mutual interest between Michigan and CKD when Harbaugh left, when CKD was still at Washington and prior to the hiring of Moore.

This doesn’t mean that CKD is still interested. I find it hard to believe he would bolt from here after only two years.

I'm right there with you. In the past my wife knew when college football started I wasn't going anywhere on a Saturday. I missed the AU and SECCG to take her on a trip and it didn't even bother me.
Sounds like me. I have no trouble doing other things on Saturday now. I can check the score and watch it later if I want to. I never watched the LSU game this year.

Like I said earlier post,I believe this has legs, I hope he doesn't leave because I like him as our coach, if he does I wouldn't blame him for the way some fans have been going after him, everyone has to remember he hasn't gotten his players in his system yet, he didn't recruit Jalen or TY, so he needs his QB and RB's and online

CKD is a good family man and coach. That probably looks "very attractive" to UM right now. And if they had previoius interests that's probably why these media talking heads are throwing his name out there.

They also have a QB they think CKD can mold into a star.

However, CKD is already 2 years into the build here and has recently stated he loves it and the challenge here! I expect he shoots this down pretty soon.

I feel like he should. He/we don't want this to drag out like Kiffin and his decision. We saw how that turned out.

The more I read about this situation, the more I think he leaves if we lose. If Michigan has not hired anyone before our game against Oklahoma, that is quite telling. RTR
If a coach makes career decisions based on the outcome of a single game then that coach is an idiot.

Personally, I don't believe that CKD is an idiot. If he happens to prove me wrong, well... bye.

Do these idiot sport writers just throw any name out there and just see if they might accidentally be right? The only 2 names I saw list first as replacements were DeBoer and notre dame's coach

Not only do they do it, the late Lewis Grizzard (who was a sportswriter before he became a comedian) explained HOW you do it in just a few sentences.

You have nothing you're supposed to produce.
You think up something wild like - "What if the Braves traded Dale Murphy to Oakland for Jose Canseco?" It'll get reaction both from trading the popular guy AND the newcomer being a big name.
You then call up the Braves manager and say, "Any truth to the rumor of X?"
The manager says, "Hell no, are you crazy?"
Journalist then writes column with title on front page of sports section:

BRAVES SKIPPER DENIES MURPHY TRADE RUMORS

You take 5 minutes to write it - and then head to the bar.
You might even get the top corner of the front page, "Cox Says Murphy Trade Rumor Rubbish," Sports, 1B

That has been around forever.

We have high expectations at Bama but we offer a certain job stability for its coaches that we dont fully appreciate as fans of the program. If you watch the irrationality at programs, Auburn, LSU, PSU, etc. And we are not in that fray.

By and large we have supported our coaches in the past and we need to recognize this.

Guys, I know there are some incredibly salacious rumors out there, accessible with a simple Google search.

Unless and until there’s some confirmation from a credible source, they’re still rumors.

TideFans doesn’t allow rumors, especially ones like this. Don’t post them.

If we get credible confirmation, they’re no longer rumors, and are fair topics for discussion.

Until then, posts containing the sensational details will be deleted.

I was listening to Shutdown Fullcast last night and they were lamenting how they knew SO many sportswriters who were doing this. They said "If you read a rumor, google the agent of the sportswriter who put it out. Then google the representaion of the coach in the rumor. Bet they match."

IMO, CKD will stay. If he goes, so what. Can't really say I care one way or the other. With the state of football these days, Golf has become a more fun sport.
Yeah, I don't think he leaves either, but the thing is, if he does, then he's who I thought he was anyways. He knew it wasn't gonna be all smooth sailing from the start, and that he was walking into a pressure cooker. If he runs, then he's not the guy anyways. Though it would suck, because there's literally nobody out there I would want, other than Cignetti. But I don't see this as even remotely possible. Bama is the best job in the country. I'm not sure Michigan is even a top 5 job.
