Coaching carousel 2025-26

McElroy needs to take a deep dive into a shallow manure bucket.

You get on that show and say that your Alma mater is the most prestigious job in competitive football and he was chosen to follow the greatest college football coach of all time and he would be a clueless clown to consider that freak show in Ann Arbor, and Kalen DeBoer isn’t a clueless clown.

He does just the opposite.

Why aren’t they talking about Michigan fostering an environment where bosses are sleeping with their subordinates? SOMEONE HAD TO APPROVE THAT PAY RAISE SHE GOT. Everyone in that facility knew what was going on, and nobody said anything. He would still be employed if she hadn’t come forward with evidence and shoved it down their throats.
I listened to McElroy and Cubelic this morning, and I'm not sure what this article is talking about. GMac said he would be shocked if DeBoer left for Michigan, because he knows what kind of competitor he is, and he wouldn't be able to live with the optics if he left Michigan for Alabama. He also said he doesn't believe Michigan is a top 5 job.

Cowherd is such an idiot.
I have listened to him twice in the last year or so, both times have been in the last two weeks. Two weeks ago he was gushing about now that everyone can pay for players the SEC can’t compete. Sighting USC‘s number one recruiting class as evidence, I think at that time Alabama had the number four class and Georgia had the number six class, but the signing day wasn’t done. Bama had 4 decommits that day , but since have signed two others to move their class to number two in the country , and the only reason USC is number one is they signed 35 players to 22 for Alabama.

Cowherd has always had a low-key dislike for Alabama. Everyone remembers him saying they had a Saban problem in 2015. I also remember him touting USC under Spurrier as the dominant program to be in the SEC. HIs college football takes are comical.

He can still take a deep dive, but he better talk to on3 about his quotes.

IF CKD entertains any offers or hints at it, does Byrne/BOT give CKD an extension? I'm just curious if at this point Bryne/BOT would say "you shop, we shop" kinda thing or do they feel they need to be worried and lock him up to a longer extension like some of the other high profile coaches this cycle?

if he wants to leave, which I don’t think he would, let him go. If the Lunatic Fringe of the fanbase runs him off, he isn’t the coach we think he is.
That said, if he loses to OU, he may want to board up his windows😅

I would. Not a lifetime commitment or anything like that, but enough of a raise and extension to say "You're our guy, and we believe in what you're building". I think we pretty much have to. There's only one potential upgrade that we might have even a semi realistic chance at getting. Everyone else would seemingly be a downgrade. Even amongst coaches that are untouchable, i only see 2 i'd want (Day or Kirby).

I heard them as well. I have no idea what GMac said on Sportscenter. I don’t watch Sportscenter. I would rather drink my coffee and watch my dog dump in the backyard in the morning. However, I heard on Mac and Cube on WJOX the same thing you did. He basically said the reason DeBoer is mentioned is because he was mentioned as a possible candidate to replace Harbaugh if he should leave Michigan.

GMac said, as you clearly stated, he feels CKD is far too competitive to leave Alabama after two seasons. Basically leaving the job unfinished. He said he would be absolutely shocked if it happened..

Yeah, no kidding. Why in the world would he sit there and publicly say "I'd start with Kalen DeBoer"? Why even be "that guy"? He's supposed to be an ambassador for the college not the guy who helps get your coach to leave. Unless he isn't a DeBoer fan, which could very well be true.

I think he said somewhere that he doesn't want DeBoer to leave and that if he did any coach we got would be a step down. So I think he does like DeBoer but agreed with everything else you said

"If he goes, I’d be disappointed, because I don’t think you can get better than him. I really don’t," McElroy said on his radio show on Thursday. "I’d be very disappointed, as an Alabama fan, if he left. It’d be crushing frankly, because I think you’re going down with whoever you bring in next.”

I think GMac has no problem “carrying ESPN’s water” when asked. I guess he wants to check the “works and plays well others” box on his annual review.

My guess? “Hey Mac, we’re going to have you on to get your opinion about Michigan and CKD. You think he’s really serious candidate?

“Nah..Not really…

“But you think they should take run at him? Make him say no?”

“I guess, but it is probably not realistic….”

“Okay let’s lead with “It starts with DeBoer…It’s a good hook on the lead in…

I see a lot of Cowherd quotes on the Freezing Cold Takes group.
