We have lost 7 games in two seasons. It will be 8 losses in two seasons unless we win the NC.

You’d have to add up the last FIVE seasons combined of CNS’s “Decline” years to total 8 losses.

I’m not saying there aren’t reasons to explain how or why.

I’m not saying he needs to be fired.

But just a big ‘No’ to a new contract when the current one is already a slightly questionable deal financially.

That’s not remotely the same.

He took over a program near crippled by sanctions and a loss of scholarships.

He had to completely rebuild the brand image and the foundations of a winning program and a roster.

There was a dearth of talent when he showed up in 2007 and then in 2008 he had them ranked #1 in year two going toe to toe with Urban Meyer’s Florida program.

Four years prior to CNS the program had a W/L record of 26-23

Four Years prior to CKD the program had a W/L record of 49-6 and 4 straight years finishing in the Top 5

We have been 19-7 in the last two seasons and just barely made a Playoff field with 12 teams.

It’s not a 1:1 comparison at all.

Lol we have an opinion you have yours i have mine that was an embarrassment in the SEC Game. He makes no adjustments Our OL has not improved at all and our DL gets pushed around. Again we got lucky in a few game this year and he does not need an extension

It’s worse, Saban had far more control over the athletes.

The jury is still out on CKD so I wouldn't offer an extension now. We made the playoff which I guess can be interpreted as some improvement but our performance hasn't greatly improved from season 1. Next season will tell the story I think on whether or not he was a good hire.

I think our opinion is the same. I was saying people can't point to the records of DeBoer and Saban in the first two years and make them "equal". Because after Saban lost six his first season it was beast mode from that point on. DeBoer's second season has followed the same pattern as his first season. Limping across the finish line looking like a shell of the team that we saw in the first half of the season.

So what if this extension doesn't raise the buyout when fired at all, would people be more accepting of it? I mean I think I read the other day that's irs already $70M, so I don't think it's necessarily gonna be raised if he does get an extension. I suspect the contract might be more of a restructuring with more years and a raise, as opposed to a flat out extension. Maybe we get something out of it too, like a higher buyout if he leaves for another school, so this doesn't happen again. I think we should probably see the final details before just writing it off. Greg Byrne is a smart guy. I don't see him being hoodwinked by Sexton like some seem to think.
