Kevin Willard leaving Maryland for Villanova, now Buzz Williams leaving Texas A&M for Maryland. Is the NCAA going to let Wade Taylor transfer with him for year 8.

Willard left because their NiL was trash, are the aggies worse? Did the Under Armour guy make some promises?
Maybe he left because he hit his 6 year limit. This ties for the longest he's ever stayed at a job, so I guess it was time LOL. I'm sure he'll leave Maryland too, in a few years.

I read that he was pining for the job before it was ever open, so I don't know that they had to promise anything.

Has it occurred to anyone that the Aggie oil barons might try to money whip Nate?
CNO seems like a guy that wants to run his show with his philosophy and A&M is not a place they wil give you free rein to do things your way. I have heard that was part of the issues with Buzz there as he was always looking over his shoulder.

That's the issue with all coaching jobs at aTm and UTw. They'll pay you a king's ransom. But you'll feel underpaid dealing with all their meddling garbage.

It's why Saban turned down UTw.

i seriously doubt they're gonna drop $25 million ish on a basketball coach. That's a lot, even for them. I feel pretty safe with that $18 million buyout. Not invincible, but safe enough that I'm not gonna lose any sleep over job openings this year.

I'm only worried about blue bloods, and the NBA. But it does seem CNO is happy at Alabama.
You need to worry about more than the NBA. Oats is not happy with Bama right now. He had to beg for a salary bump for Murphy and he does not like how much of our NIL goes to football.

Kansas is the one to watch. When Bill Self gets tired of losing like this year, he will be gone.

What's it going to take to get basketball a reasonable share of our NIL?. I'm of the opinion that we should do whatever it takes to keep Coach Oats happy. We don't have as much as some schools, but we should be able to delegate enough money for both sports. We're not a poverty school by any means. I hate to suggest this, bit would it better for our program in the long run for Auburn to win the national championship? Would that be enough motivation to get our butts into gear on that front? I had no idea he was unhappy, but if that's true, then maybe we aren't as committed to basketball as I thought. You would think all of our recent success would have the powers that be, wanting more.

I agree to an extent. At this point I would rather delegate/swing more money needed for basketball vs football with the best bball coach and program we have had. I don’t think donors will give more money to the university at this point since the university itself has made decisions that people don’t agree with besides the fact the way sports has gone that have people like me not willing to put any money in at the moment.

One could make the argument that had Auburn not hired Pearl, maybe Alabama wouldn't have hired CNO. I shudder at that thought - I want all of the Alabama's programs to be successful and fully funded to be successful, but it's possible alternative outcome.

I'm not saying you are wrong. But I am curious where you are getting this from because it's the first time I've heard CNO is not happy at Alabama.

As a matter of fact, I watched his post game PC after the Duke game and I got the impression that he's more driven, focused and personally committed to bringing a NC to Bama than he's ever been! IOW, he didn't sound like a guy looking to leave.

All it would take is for his agent to float out he's unhappy and he'd be getting phone calls from top programs immediately.

KY wanted to hire him. Supposedly, Texas wanted to hire him. I'd bet UNC would fire their coach and hire him immediately.

FWIW, I know nothing, but I know he's one of, if not, the hottest coaches in college basketball. Seems like if he's unhappy we'd be seeing his tail lights already.
