Colin Peek, the TE transfer from GT, must be walking around with a huge smile on his face today after the hiring of CJM. CJM's offenses use the TEs effectively and I believe I read somewhere the FSU TE had something like 500+ yards receiving last year.

And speaking of Colin, does anyone know if he has heard anything from the NCAA re: his eligibility this year?

It's a great day to be a Crimson Tide fan!

How many years have we been begging for a staff to effectively use the TE? I know I have been begging for years. It can be such an EFFECTIVE weapon. I think we've got our man for the TEs.:biggrin2::BigA::biggrin2::BigA::biggrin2:

Transferring TE Colin Peek?

Just wondering if anyone had a update on how his appeal process was going? I read a while back that he and his father were in the process of submitting his "hardship" transfer to the NCAA. Has that process begun or has it begin completed?

I too have always wondered why Bama seldom used the TE. There are so many different ways to use them as recievers and it seems that they are "always open", whether its Pro, College or H.S.
I remember numerous times in the past when other teams(especially Auburn ) would burn Bama time after time with wide open TEs.

Or Nick Walker and Travis McCall. They are good too.
[???] Speaking of Tight Ends, when Charles Hoke came out of Briarwood a couple of years back, I remember TONS of chatter about his size, speed for such a big guy and his possessing 'soft hands' - being able to 'catch anything in his vacinity'. I also remember hearing about his being dinged up a few times, but is he also just being 'out-practiced' since he came on-board, seeing as he hasn't seen the field very often at TE? What is the scoop on this kid? Obviously the ball is in his court (attitude, studies, playing desire) but what is the prospect that Hoke will finally make his presense known in the spring & in '08 & '09? Anyone have an opinion on this?

[!!!] It is good news to be getting an OC that has utilized the TE like McElwain has in the past. I get good vibes all over in his hiring. I suspect we'll see him utilize chunks out of the old playbook (what works) and intro his new schemes sparingly in his 1st year. ((... but then what do I know?) Don't answer that!)

I really hope Peek can land that extra year of eligibility but I suspect it will be an uphill battle for UA to get ANY kind of favor out of the NCAA - time will tell.
