No Spring Game and the long await to the season opener, I thought I'd spice things up. Symptoms - low attendance at the A-Day game, Students not filling the student section, more aggressive posts on opposing team's blogs. Are fans beginning to feel complacent? Are fans beginning to feel that championships are inevitable?
I completely agree. It also showed during the regular season this past year. I don't think we had the stadium completely full at all this year INCLUDING the Auburn game.

Some folks just need something to complain about.

A Day attendance in 2006 was 40,000 for a non-televised game. We get twice that many for a televised one. Keep in mind that in 2006 we were coming off our best year in six years.

Nobody dared suggest we were complacent in 2006.

We might have a complacency problem on the team but it has nothing to do with how many people were live in person at A Day. Were we complacent last fall when MSU came to town undefeated for homecoming? I was there - the stands were 1/4 empty at kickoff and half empty at the half.

For a game against an unbeaten, ranked team geographically closest to us. So I guess we were complacent then right? Explains why we gave up that TD to MSU - thinking about ESPN, etc.

Good Lord people

You know it might be that a lot of people don't have the money. Not to get political but though you've got some pumping sunshine about the economy. There are still A LOT of people without jobs or have taken jobs that pay WAAAAY below what they are used to making. I love Alabama football but I dang sure ain't gonna go broke supporting them. At the end of the day it is just a game and nothing more than entertainment. My wife and I make a decent wage. But the economy has impacted us to where we've had to cut way back on things. So let's not be too hard on folks not showing up for games. Because it ain't cheap.

People, isn't the Tide Pride waiting list still 10,000 long? Didn't ESPN choose our game to show and run commercials on nationwide? If you want to prove complacency show me the business case for it.

Fewer people went to A-Day than in 2007-9 because they now know what they'll see. It's not new anymore. It'll be a throttled-back pro-style offense vs. a vanilla defense. You won't get your good TP seat unless you're sitting there an hour early. And we knew Henry was hurt and Bateman is still learning the O. There's little relationship between A-day attendance and paying a bunch of your yearly budget to watch the historic butt-kickings in the fall.

That said, my son and I had a great time at A-day! We waved shakers and cheered every first down. I encourage you all to go in the future if possible. CNS emphasizes and I agree it helps recruiting.

Tide Pride has a waiting list of over 10,000 people that would have gladly purchased those empty seats this past season.

We beat that dead horse during the regular season when people weren't filling the stands. :)

A crowd of 78,000 will definitly not hurt recruiting, especially when its one of the biggest turnouts in ollege football for a scrimmage game....it will impress recruits instead.

And the stadium may not be full for every game...but every game is a sell out. theres always going to be some people who dont make it to the game...and if they paid their money, thats their perogative...and it doesnt necessarily show apathy, just circumstances may have changed.

apathy may definitly show when we play teams like georgia state and Chatanooga; thats solely due to the high cost of a ticket for a game thats decided before the first kickoff.

I go to the game to watch and support Alabama, not Chattanooga & Georgia State.

"People" was primarily (not exclusively) students. Folks who pay the money for Tide Pride tickets typically show up or give/sell the tickets to somebody who does.

Having been in school in the next-most successful Tide era -- the 1970s -- I can attest that fan apathy and success on the field are only tenuously related.

Oh my freaking goodness. What's the longest waiting list for an NFL stadium?
Maybe this?

They say all good things come to those who wait, but it took 37 long years for Brad Sauve to appreciate the full meaning of that maxim. The Green Bay Packers fan put his name on the waiting list for season tickets in 1976, but didn't hear his name called until earlier this week.

"Got a letter from the Packers today," Sauve proudly tweeted on Feb. 9. "I am now a season ticket holder. Section 128 Row 41."

Hear ye, hear ye!!!

To any of you complacent Tide fans who hold season tickets - I will GLADLY go in your stead this year to all of our home games!!! I'll even pay you to Fed Ex them to me. You have to pay anyway but since you're so complacent, I'm just putting my name out there to let you know I'll gladly USE your tickets and go cheer my head off. You can just wait and go to Atlanta in December and the Rose Bowl stadium in January. I'll take your place and tailgate with my buddies and drive 600 miles seven different times (I have free reservations in Columbus) so the team will not feel we are taking them for granted.

PM me and I'll send you my address. RTR!!!

If only 78,000 were in attendance for an Alabama-LSU game at BDS, then there would be reason to worry.
