Congrats to OU and what is UF doing?

Obviously I'm a huge Bama fan (40 years) but I have to give OU their props. I've always felt OU was an SEC style team in all their years in the BIG 12 but I'm glad they rep the SEC officially now. Obviously I want to beat them but I respect them.

What is UF doing? Mental errors and same issues they have been dealing with for 4 years under Napier. Spitting on a player with a minute left in the game UF what are you doing? If you havent corrected these issues in 4 years under Napier, when are you going too? UF making the SEC look bad again.

When Florida was consistently strong, both Miami and FSU were struggling, and USF and UCF were just dots on a map. It was easy for Spurrier and Urbs to get players because they had no instate competition. Now with NIL, everyone and his brother are combing Florida for diamonds in the rough.

UF is imploding. I don’t think Napier is going to make it.

Im not fond of OU being good either. Vandy is still going to be tough, South Carolina is apparently a top ten team and we have to go to their place. We also visit Mizzou. That won’t be easy.

We get no breaks this year except the annual pre-Iron Bowl sacrificial.

Napier might not make it to October
Makes sense - if Napier goes, Stricklin probably goes, too (he extended McElwain then hired Mullen, followed by Napier - he's almost certainly the walking dead if Napier is fired).

So they'd need time to replace the AD and let him hire a new FB coach.

Prime example of what happened to us last week: a guy who doesn’t know what it takes to win makes an after penalty mistake to extend a drive, and it cost them the game. It was going to be a sloppy win, which is survivable, but now it’s a terrible home loss.

Smith thought it was a good idea to drop that elbow on third down, it wasn’t. That extended a drive instead of getting off the field.

Mullen was at least fairly successful. But yeah, Stricklin has to go too.

I just don't share the love some Bama fans have for OU, I just don't. Venables has definitely upgraded at the QB position, and their passing game is going to be tough to deal with for anybody.

As far as Florida goes, I told my friend (before the USF/Florida game) not to be surprised if USF wins the game; they are for real. I watched most of that game, and USF is just good folks, they really are, and I think if that head coach stays there, gets as many boosters on board as he can, I truly believe they could grow into a playoff-contending program. They are in the perfect place in Florida to recruit all the talent they want.

When we were wandering through the desert under DuBose and Shula, and OU was coming back under Stoops, they became my second favorite team. The color schemes, the histories, etc. made it seem a natural fit.

Until I saw how so many Sooner fans viewed Alabama. Outside of our resident Sooner fan who posts here, I can’t stand them. Hope they lose every game except when it benefits us for them to win.

Bett's spitting incident reminded me a lot of when the Ole Miss player emulated a urinating dog, costing his team the game and Matt Luke his job.

In both instances, the coaches (Luke then, Napier now) were on thin ice anyway. In both cases, there were repeated incidents of undisciplined behavior taking place over multiple seasons. In both cases, the opponent was one the fan base really doesn't want to lose to -- In the OM case, Mississippi State. In the Florida case, South Florida. In both cases, the resulting unsportsmanlike call was instrumental in the outcome of the game.

It's one thing to lose. It's another thing not only to give the game away to a rival, but to do so in an embarrassing, undisciplined and 100% preventable fashion -- on national TV.

If you're a coach with several championships, you can weather this. If you're Napier going into the season in what could charitably be called a shaky position, needing every win, no preventable losses, and no repeats of behavior that put you in that spot in the first place....it's devastating.

Florida's next four opponents are at LSU, at Miami, UTw, and at aTm. I don't think he survives. The next game after that gantlet is Mississippi State. I don't think he'll be the coach.

Probably right. He might not make it thru September. Definitely won't make it thru the season. I thought Napier would be a pretty good coach, I was way off.
