"He knocked me woozy. I have never been hit like that before and hopefully, I'll never be hit like that again." - Steve Beuerlein

Bennett was a first selection on the College Football All-America Team 3 times (1984–1986). He is one of only two Alabama players to be named to three All-America teams, the other being fellow linebacker Woodrow Lowe. As a senior, he won the Lombardi Award, SEC Player of the Year honors, and finished 7th in balloting for the Heisman Trophy. In his 4 seasons there, Bennett recorded 287 tackles, 21½ sacks, and 3 fumble recoveries.

Biscuit and Derrick Thomas are two of my all time favorite Bama players. Man, could those guys hit!

I've posted this before, but I would always think of the Jaws music whenver I would see him homing in on a QB or RB. He was as good as you'll ever see,

Great player, I remember that hit against Bureline like it happened yesterday.
Ditto. Was sitting in the student section @ Legion Field that day. SOOOO much fun to watch the Biscuit play; offenses basically had no answer for someone that big & fast & strong. Pity the RB who stepped in front of him trying to block him, and the QB when the RB missed.

Bennett was one of the best ever, but I never saw anyone take over a game like Derrick Thomas. He destroyed Penn State in 1988.
I agree. I was old enough to know what was going on back in the eighties and was even in attendance at the 1986 game against Notre Dame(still even have my ticket stub), and I can say that as good as the biscuit was, Derrick Thomas was better...

does anyone remember the gams vs lsu (not sure of the year)...but he ran thru and blocked a lsu punt; but there was a penalty on BAMA; that gave the ball back to lsWHO and BAMA forced em into another punt...once again CB came thru and blocked it, again...picked up the ball and ran into the endzone for a TD.

I was in high school in the late 80s, Bennett was considered by many back then along with Brian Bosworth as the best defensive players in the country. they were that dominant!!
