Impressive drive. Memphis is really tired. The difference in talent is showing up.
If that’s good for you, it’s good for me too. That will put a fork in Memphis. Here's hoping that all teams with a Tiger mascot lose.
They tried, and tried hard. They can be proud of themselves.Impressive drive. Memphis is really tired. The difference in talent is showing up.
State Penn's offense is too big, strong and deep for Memphis to keep up with. They held their own for a while and made a good showing of it though.Impressive drive. Memphis is really tired. The difference in talent is showing up.
Bigger, faster, stronger. That's the big diff in P5 and G5.Impressive drive. Memphis is really tired. The difference in talent is showing up.
Yep - Memphis is far and away the best G5 team this year and they are losing soundly to a team that is probably the 11th or 12th best P5 team.Bigger, faster, stronger. That's the big diff in P5 and G5.
#10 vs #17. Sounds like it's about right. One score game for a good portion of the game.Yep - Memphis is far and away the best G5 team this year and they are losing soundly to a team that is probably the 11th or 12th best P5 team.
That only gives them 8 more points - they have to convert 4 of the 6 FGs into TDs to change the outcome. But the game would have been closer.Convert just two of those FGs into TDs and this is an entirely different game.
If UM’s first two FGs had been TD’s, they are up 21-7 going into the 2nd quarter. Would have changed the complexion of the game, IMO. Huge momentum shift. Franklin, in his infinite “wisdom,” likely starts throwing more. Which would have favored the Tigers. That only gives them 8 more points - they have to convert 4 of the 6 FGs into TDs to change the outcome. But the game would have been closer.
Totally agree that Franklin made this game closer than it needed to be. They were running at will, averaging over 7 yards per carry. Franklin outsmarted himself with his halftime adjustments. Should have just stuck with the running game and won by 4 TDs.
Sure, if you want to specify those two possessions. But the better team won, as much as I hate to give State Penn credit. If UM’s first two FGs had been TD’s, they are up 21-7 going into the 2nd quarter. Or the FG that cut it to 38-36. A TD there gives Memphis a 40-38 lead. The momentum of scoring TDs vs FGs can be more significant than just point differential.Sure, if you want to specify those two possessions. But the better team won, as much as I hate to give State Penn credit.
