I think it was when Ty was a Sr in HS and had already committed to Alabama, along with watching the normal HS highlight film on him, I listened to an interview with him and was very impressed he seemed like an intelligent, thoughful, well-bred kid. Then after he had been here for a year or two there were three incidents, that though they were each minor, caused me concern, wondering if they were indicating a pattern. So, to read this description from Courtney Morgan, who seems to have his finger on the pulse of the team and program, about the kind of young man he is and how his teammates regard him, was very comforting.

How have you seen Ty Simpson develop since you arrived at Alabama?
Morgan:
Ty has (the) love of his teammates. They all like him. They all think he’s a good dude, a good person. He’s a coach’s kid. He gets it. He’s been patient. He hasn’t been a cancer. He hasn’t been a person who’s wondering why he is he not playing. He’s kind of been playing this role, understanding it is the long game. I think everyone believes in Ty. Ty has a really live arm. When he’s on, he’s on. I think it’s something to say about confidence when the job is actually yours. When you come into the spring and you're expected to be the guy, I think that confidence and that believe in your team or coaches, that helps him play better. So we’re looking forward to it.

Best what?

He should just be focused on winning the #1 which shouldn't be much pressure considering he's been on campus for almost 3 years
The part about pressure mentioned in the article was not related to any specific player.

From the article:

Morgan knows what major college football feels like. It’s filled with pressure. But the pressure at Alabama, he said, is “a little more intense.”

“The players here, I think they feel a little more pressure than anywhere I’ve been to win,” Morgan told The Tuscaloosa News. “I think the coaches, here, just everyone here … it’s a heavy weight on their shoulders. And I’m not saying that it’s negative. You shy away from it, but it’s a driving factor every day.”

Even the best in the world feel pressure. It’s part of being great. I think most can’t imagine the amount of pressure these kids face.

Fascinating article/interview. Thanks for providing the link.

I found a few things interesting:

1. What he said about Ty's likability on the team. It did concern me that he said, "When Ty is on he's on." It makes me wonder if he's a little unpredictable and streaky and could possibly explain why we didn't see him more this year when JM struggled. FWIW, I think it was probably more of the "other stuff" going on, but I hope if TS has been a little streaky that starts to disappear when he becomes QB#1 and gets the reps starters get! BTW, if TS becomes the next starter (and I believe he will) it'll be a remarkable story of patience sitting behind the unpredictable chaos that we've seen the last couple of years! The fact we never heard a rumor about him thinking about transferring is a remarkable story in this portal era!

2. The staff is NOT phased by Auburn's recruiting success in the state this year. That'll likely change especially when there's top-tier in-state talent.

3. But I couldn't help but be fascinated with what the interview revealed about Keelon Russel's recruitment. They really believed we got the best QB in the cycle before anybody else knew who he was. Then the accolades started rolling in and it only confirmed it! I think the kid is going to be special and if you haven't read up on him you should. He's a future star!
