The title to the thread...Cowherd likes Saban to Florida...

I'm sure it would thrill Cowherd nearly to death if Saban was stupid enough to make that jump. Then Cowherd could start up his Saban bashing all over again.

He said the coach is not a coordinator, not a name that many are throwing around in the national media, and is a "big boy" coach. Again, he said it's NOT SABAN.

Re: Cowherd likes Saban to Florida

Unless the next AD does something stupid like try to interfere in how Saban runs the Alabama football program, he will only leave to retire/health reasons (and I don't see anything on the horizon in those areas) or for similar professional reasons. I can't see him going back to try the NFL again. It wasn't that he wasn't successful, it was that he really didn't like it. I can't see him suddenly liking it. I can't see professional reasons to go to another college program, including UF.
Which won't happen because Saban will basically get to handpick the next AD...if my memory serves me correctly.

Just for fun, how's about:

Spurrier
To
Announce he's
Back

(Google lead me to this TigerDroppings solution to the acronym)

I don't know, Spurrier is just too old. I really don't see him doing the Florida thing all over again.

I wonder if he's referring that whoever the coach is would be stabbing another team in the back...like Mark Richt or Jimbo Fisher. I still think it'll either be Mullen or Stoops.

Re: Cowherd likes Saban to Florida

And there is basically no job in the NFL that would give him the control he wants. He didn't even have it in Miami (Acquiring Daunte Culpepper over Drew Brees comes to mind).
To clarify, I don't think Saban to the NFL is in any way imminent ,nor do I EVER want it to occur, BUT I do think one day there will be an owner out there who will give him what he wants to give the NFL another shot, whether it be a dual coach/GM role, picking his own GM etc. or, GOD FORBID, a situation like Pete Carroll, that forces his hand in that direction.

Re: Cowherd likes Saban to Florida

He's not going anywhere. Despite what people think about Coach Saban, I get the impression that he genuinely does care about what his public image is. He took quite a hit when he left Miami. And I don't think anything was sinister about the way he left LSU. I think he, like every person in any profession in the world, wanted to know if he could be successful at the highest level. And he learned that head coaching at a professional level wasn't as good a fit as head coaching at the college level. I think the Alabama job offered a very good landing spot to get back into the college game, with its relative proximity to the recruiting inroads that he'd already made at LSU. Coach Saban is a young looking guy, but he's 59 years old. Unless your name is Joe Paterno or Bobby Bowden, he doesn't have 20 more years in him to be moving around like a nomad, especially not with the same intensity with which he recruits and coaches.

It's amazing how some people want to put words in the mouths of others. Cowherd said NOTHING about Saban to Florida. He was playing an acronym game with the audience.
