A win over Florida isn’t that impressive either.Honestly, LSU should drop in the polls because its overly obvious their win against Clemson is the reason theyre currently ranked where they are.
I have seen that twice today now. In the Wisconsin game a guy pushed the defender so hard he actually changed direction and they didn’t call pass interference. Resulted in a touchdown for Maryland. Can’t get much more blatant DPI than that
Good thing you qualified it with “at least” lolMy bold preseason prediction of Clempson losing at least four games this season isn't looking so bold, now.
I have zero respect for Dabo Whiney, for some reasons that are obvious and some reasons I won't go into here, and this path is one I've been predicting for years at this point.
At this point, regardless of the odds, I wouldn't put money on Dabo winning another championship - of any type - in the top tier of college football...
When Clemson runs down the hill before home games, I have a suggestion for them, they should play the Benny Hill theme song.
I think he's setting up to try a Spurrier in reverse.Dabo made the mistake of answering a question that wasn't asked. "Do you feel the criticism?" and his answer seemed more in line with the question being, "Are you concerned about your job security?"
Talk about going overboard. LOL!
You still have to coach the team up. We all point to Cam Newton, but they also won because they had Dirty Cheap Shot Fairley on the DL creating havoc and a few other players. They were surrounded by a huge crop of 20+ seniors who had all played a good bit and knew their assignments and were bough in, even though their talents were average. Can I make the one point about "I suspect Dabo might be skirting the rules"?
That MAY be true. I'm hesitant in every case to accuse anyone of that because I think it's an easy way out, particularly when the dollar bills don't pass the ball, don't make the tackles, and don't block the opposing line. I think it's an easy way to discredit accomplishment, something along the lines of "you know, Belichick never won anything without Brady," as if therefore "but Belichick DRAFTED Brady" doesn't matter.
The ACC turned out to be, well, not very good, but he still had to beat the non-conference opponents. Besides, we know for a fact Auburn paid some guys, including Eric Ramsey (for which they got probation) and Cam Newton. And they were credibly accused of same by a dozen other players through the years who had no proof.
But if winning is as simple as "but he pays players," how do you explain Ole Miss never winning so much as an SEC championship? Pruitt did it, Tennessee didn't win anything. Jimbo Fisher went out and literally bought a roster at aTm and didn't win anything as well. I can name more teams that DID NOT win national championships and won about what they would have without paid players than you can name teams that DID win with "bought players."
Even Ryan Day's bought and paid for $20 million roster at Ohio State would not have won a national title last year without the expanded playoff.
My point is this: even if Dabo DID skirt the rules to pay players, the coaching, the game plan, and staff, and the execution STILL MATTER to a greater degree than "we gave Sunshine a million bucks to play for us."
It's also possible that what works in the ACC doesn't work at all in the SEC, too. Look no further than Jimbo Fisher (national championship) or Bobby Petrino (who wasn't half bad given he was at Arkansas) for examples.
