Thanks for posting that. I was at the game - in the MDB - and remember Deuce running those plays very well.

I also remember the reaction of the Ole Miss fans & team - I've NEVER seen (before or since) a team and a crowd so angry at an opposing team for coming in their house and beating them. They thought they had a chance all game but we just kept thismuch ahead of them.

In the last play of the game I remember their nose tackle intentionally rising up VERY early, smacking Roger Shultz in the facemask (I think he may have broken his nose) and drawing the worst unsportsmanlike conduct penalty I've ever seen (before the Miami-FIU game).

Man that guy could play. Arenas reminds me so much of Palmer. Quick and shifty, good speed but not great. Hey, I got an idea: ARENAS AT QB!! ;)

anyone else have a sneaking suspicion that the coaching staff plans to hold off on johns doing much under center until the auburn game?

I played this a couple of times and it brought back some really great memories of this guy.

Thanks,

That young man had everyone's heart racing everytime he touched the ball. I know Alabama isn't to far away with another David Palmer. I see a lot David in Terry Grant. I am not saying Grant will be like DP but the excitment he will bring to Alabama sure will. :BigA:

Great post!!! I almost forgot how great he was. Saw his son play a couple of weeks ago. We need to put #2 on the shelf for a couple of years. I think we'll soon have someone wanting that number!!!!!!

DISPUTE THIS POST AT YOUR OWN RISK !!!!!:eek2:

When I watch that video it reminds me of just how dumb some of our fans really are .

EXAMPLE 1 : "Freddie Milons is another David Palmer ."
EXAMPLE 2 : "Do you think Milons is better than "The Deuce" was ?":conf2:
EXAMPLE 3 : "Milons is better than Palmer ."

I feel very comfortable when I state that ....

The Deuce is absolutely the best and most talented offensive football player , friend or foe , to ever set foot on campus . Period !

I believe DP may possibly be the best offensive player in the history of college football .

Remember when DP would field a punt and actually just stand there for 2 or 3 seconds ? Incredible ! His moves could not , and will not , ever be duplicated .

His hands were glue . I can only recall one pass that he failed to catch . It was a circus type attempt that no other player would've even gotten a hand on unless they were 6'7" .

He was rarely the fastest player on the field but , he could stop and be at top speed in the blink of an eye . We always worried that he might get injured but , he was so quick that during his three seasons there was never a time when any defender was ever able to deliver a solid shot on him . Never . Ever .

Stallings always said that if any emergency were to arise , he could also play CB . They did practice it some . CGS also bragged about DP's blocking .

Just one thing to add for all of the younger fans out there that have heard the stories about "The Deuce" . Every word of them is the pure truth . It was as if the opponents and the game itself was nothing more than his own personal video game . Well , also for the younger fans , imagine Brandon Brooks absolutely dominating every opponent . Palmer was about 5'7" .
